Insomnia is a symptom, rather than a disease, and is characterized by inadequate quantity or quality of sleep. I am very dubious, but would be interested to hear if it's actually helped anyone.
My take is you are far better off addressing the underlying reasons for the anxiety, depression, and insomnia, than relying on this or any other artificial device, which is, like drugs, only treating the symptom.
If this stimulation device helps replenish or fortify the lacking neurotransmitters, I would say it is then addressing the underlying reason for the condition.
I don't know the specifics of your situation hotfoot, but I can say that just because others in your family have insomnia does not necessarily mean you automatically are destined to have it or that you are predisposed to some sort of inherited genetic condition that is disrupting neurotransmitter production in your brain.
Rather, I think it's more that insomnia is so prevalent in society today. Some surveys show up to 70% of the population has it in one form or another, so the family that doesn't have someone with insomnia is probably more the exception than the rule.
My take is that each and every one of us is a unique individual. It's worth it to check out with a doctor, if you haven't already, your belief that your system is not producing sufficient neurotransmitters due to an inherited genetic condition. If that's truly the case, this may be treatable, and perhaps the stimulator is one way to do it.
Good luck.
