Insomnia Support Group
Insomnia is a symptom, rather than a disease, and is characterized by inadequate quantity or quality of sleep. People with insomnia complain of difficulty falling or staying asleep, which results in significant impairment of daytime functioning. Insomnia is categorized as transient (shorter than one week), short-term (one to three weeks) or chronic (longer than three...
I have lived close to cell towers, and also very near microwave transmission facilities for phone and that didn't cause insomnia for me.
If you are convinced this is causing you trouble, you'd be well advised to move, though it's near impossible to find an EMF-free zone anymore. They're pretty much everywhere.
In the meantime, you can try the standard suggestions for sleep improvement, such as keeping a consistent sleep schedule, only allowing the minimum time in bed you need for sleep and no more, daily exercise, watch caffeine, and so forth.
Also key for most people is addressing the negative thoughts, but if you're convinced your health is at risk due to the cell tower, you don't have many options.
good luck to you.
Can it be psychosyamatic? However, you spell it.....
I don't sleep either...and I'm usually not tired...but today I a VERY tired.
I was up every hour on the hour last night...
Anger ....really affects my sleep pattern.
Now with that out-of-the-way, I do not believe that RF from a cell phone can cause insomnia. If it did, nearly everyone would be zombies by now since cell towers are nearly everywhere, especially in big cities that need many, many sites to provide the radio coverage, and user capacity, that everyone expects.
Cell phone systems use very low ERP (Effective Radiated Power) since in most cases, each site is supposed to cover a very small area. Other RF systems that we are all familiar with, such as; TV, AM/FM radio, and public safety systems all operate at much, much higher ERP since they need to cover as big of an area as possible. Therefore, your exposure to RF is very likely much higher in all other RF areas than in cell service.
I have never read anything about RF even possibly causing insomnia. IMO, your insomnia can be caused by a truck load of possibilities, but RF from a cell tower; no way. The insomnia causing items that I would look for are:
1. Too much light in bedroom; any light, but especially any blue light.
2. Room too warm; should be in the 60's if at all possible. If not, get a water cooled mattress pad (we have one) and it works great.
3. Use a "white noise" machine to help mask random sounds. We just use a free smartphone APP, using bluetooth to a small speaker several feet from the bed.
4. Take note of ANY medications, both prescription and OTC. I have had serious sleep problems caused by both. It can be difficult to track a sleep killer if you take very many medications. Again, do not overlook any OTC medications.
5. One thing "out-of-the-box" is grounding yourself while in bed. Your bed is likely surrounded by devices that are inducing 60Hz into your body. Likely trouble makers, anything plugged into an AC outlet. However, even if you remove all AC powered devices from your sleeping area, there are still AC power cables running in your walls, usually right behind your bed. The power induced by the nearby AC power is so high that it can be easily measured with inexpensive test equipment. Naturally, the issue then becomes is this induced power dangerous? Some very famous doctors believe so and recommend that everyone ground themselves as many hours as possible, but especially while in bed. The link below will take you to a site that goes into detail on this issue, and if you can, buy the book written by the man who discovered this potential problem and all he did to prove that being grounded can provide profound health benefits.

Good luck in trying to cure your insomnia, but I would forget about the cell tower and move on to more likely candidates, some of which are not obvious.
so if those invisible bullet weapons using energy can injure someone/burn them etc at a higher power, what can a lower power of the same type of energy do? but i am not any expert, it is things i read on webpages
it is new technology and no one knows the 100% affect on the entire public. there have not been long term studies on enough people. it is similar how people used to think that smoking was safe many years ago.
do vaccines cause autism? is gmo food safe? etc there is alot to debate of things that the government and professionals say is safe, but is it safe for everyone? anyways i dont know if the cell tower, or smart meter, electrical wires are causing the insomnia
but i have an interesting story of what happened to me, that made me look that up
but the insomnia originally started with a traumatic brain injury, and how i got the traumatic brain injury is the reason i looked up the webpages. there is more to that but i can only speak to certain people about the reason behind my theories.
there are entire neighborhoods that rally to get the cell towers taken down and block them from being installed, it is on the news. and there are cancer clusters in neighborhoods that have protested the cell tower. i often do hear a strange buzzing sound coming from the window and dont know what is it
and my handheld emf detector picks up higher amounts of emf radiation when i hear the buzzing sound or the dial will flicker on a higher number.
but there is no answer. but some people pick up and go entirely off the grid.
there are other people i talked to who complained that their smart meter/emf cell tower is causing them insomnia and anxiety and other symptoms, headaches.
there is someone who had a friend visit them at their apartment that is next to the smart meter and cell towers surrounding close by and the visitors would get insomnia and feel sick.and they started to get insomnia and sick after moving in and their visitors who stayed there got the same symptoms and then the person moved away and they are ok now.
so trial and error, there needs to be more studies, even if they study 2000 people that dosnt account for the entire population
science has some bad sides. things get approved without appropriate studies, theres agendas and money to be made.
such as the drug industry also, they want americans to be on as many medications as possible and the medications have side effects to they invent new pills to battle the side effects, or psychotropic drugging of children in the usa. there are more children under 18 on psychiatric drugs and ritalin in the usa than in any other country.and most foster children are on these medications. they are the study because there is no scientific study of the affects of psychiatric drugs on kids under 18, but they still say it is safe even tho the fda finally admitted they never approved that for kids
and theres alot of money made from prescribing pills to underage kids so why admit it is not safe and that there were no studies done.why take every thing the professionals say seriousely, when years later they come forward and say it was never safe.
you have to be your own advocate and realize not everyone is going to tell the truth. there are alot of dishonest people who are telling us what we want to hear. and tat starts with the fda, drug industries, government approval departments, official scientists
the drug industry loves the idea that millions of americans have insomnia every day. the amount of money they are making on the sleeping pills is amazing for them. they even invented anti sleeping pills for overnight workers to keep people awake. lol
so they are selling keep people awake prescription pills now
im not saying the drug industry has any thing to do with why people get insomnia or that they dont want to help people who do. but there is also alot of greed on the side in that industry. the more pills they can invent the better for them. so they have pills you can take if you work an overnight shift or are a truck driver to keep you awake and then another pill you take when you get home from work to make you sleep
but there are many reasons i do not like science or trust everything these leading science industry people say. they mislead other scientists and science teachers and they are given the wrong information, so im not saying it is their fault if they are being told the wrong information by textbooks and the people in charge of the science
i have read some college text books that were total complete baloney and college professors were teaching this to students as if it were fact.people go by what they are taught.
My hubby is an RF engineer with a huge telecommunications company. He has been working with RF for nearly 20 years. I asked him whether a cell tower could cause insomnia, and he said he has never heard that. He has only ever heard that some people who use their phones up against their head (instead of using a hands-free device) have experienced adverse effects such as headaches, nausea, and body temperatures rising. Cell Phones and other handheld mobile devices as well as home wifi create a lot of RF in our homes. Some appliances, too, create a lot of RF. The hubby says cell phone towers actually don't push a lot of RF down towards the ground where people are, they send out the signals outward and upward. it's the mobile devices and such that send the RF up towards to towers. Even our TVs and microwaves and cars probably expose us to more direct RF than the cell towers. My hubby says hair dye is more dangerous than cell towers. lol
Verizon Wireless just got sued because they aren't doing enough to ensure connectivity in rural areas.
I mean seriously they got sued - and lost - because people were upset that when they went off into the woods and other remote areas, people couldn't access youtube to upload their fuzzy sasquatch videos or check their facebook. lol
There's really no such thing as going "off the grid" anymore. Sure you can find alternative sources of power and water and not connect your home to anything. You can choose not to use the internet or have a phone - landline or otherwise. You can poop in a compostable toilet.
But there's always Google Earth and there will always be RF zooming over the horizon way above our heads. There will always be pesticide drift. There will always be taxes.
I don't mean to sound like a downer, but I live in the PNW where a lot of people either talk about going "off the grid" or have already done so, and regardless of where they plant themselves there are always issues to be found - for those who look for them.
I made the mistake of watching Frontline last night. Anybody else see that "trouble with chickens"? Oh my gosh! It's going to be awhile before I can eat chicken or turkey. Just one example of how media can scare/try to control us.
Anyway, "off the grid" is no longer a way of escape from the modern world. In fact, it's become a trendy subculture of the modern world.
Sometimes, ignorance is bliss! :)
When I suffered from insomnia, my doctor and I could not figure out what was causing it. For three years. It was horrible. Finally, my MIL passed away. Within a few weeks I was sleeping soundly. Coincidence, or ??
