First, I'd suggest continuing with your analyst. Be sure to describe your thoughts of dying being caused by sleep issues. Ask that person if s/he uses CBT methods.
I would highly recommend continuing your CBT program, whatever it was. Those methods need to be used, and really every day, to work. But rest assured if you make that effort it will pay off enormously for you with better sleep now, and for the rest of your life. Without drugs.
I speak from experience on that. I learned CBT sleep training methods over a decade ago and still use them every day. It really becomes a lifestyle that supports good health and good sleep. If you are the self help type you'll find lots of good info about CBT sleep training methods online.
Whatever your program, be confident you can make this better.
I think it's important that you talk to a professional about your feelings of wanting to drop dead. Even if you're not planning to kill yourself, that's suicidal thinking and if it's not taken care of soon it can snowball into something ugly. Trust me, I know from experience.
