You know sleep is a moving target that changes throughout life. In middle age sleep becomes noticeably lighter, and by the time we are elderly we spend most of the night in stage 2, the lightest form of true sleep. I suspect that's what's been happening to you.
Maybe part of the solution for you is to just accept what sleep you get as OK, try to let go the worry, and maybe most importantly is keep up your life both physically and socially best you can. The kind of stimulation you get from social interaction is very important, especially as one ages.
Doing all that, even if you feel fatigues from lack of sleep the previous night, just toughing it out best you can, helps tire you out -- and increases the probability of a better night sleep following.
Anyway, good luck to you.
Good luck, let me know if it works
