I'd tell your counselor about that and maybe she can give you something to take instead. If you don't want to be on meds, then maybe you can do other therapies to deal with all the hurt.

For my anger, I did family of origin work to find out how my past affected by present condition. It helped in countless ways. I actually went to a week-long retreat and did intensive group therapy. I recommend it highly.
Remember, that very likely "you'll" need more help than he does. He is accostomed to his "crazy" and you're not. So, seek help for you, individually. Have you sought checkups with an MD? You should. If he has gone this far, he needs longterm and aggressive mental help. But, that isn't "your" problem. Your problem is to take good care of you now.
