Separation gives you time to decide what is in your best interest. It also gives you time to observe how your spouse reacts. Does he take up the sword and decide to become ethical, lose his entitlement and become a caring person, or does he take the time to cultivate a toxic relationship? That will tell you a lot.
It will give you time to breathe, find interests, set your own goals and be authentic without the dramarama. You owe this to yourself. You deserve to know who you are without depending on anyone else for happiness. You are worth this time, alone.

If you are miserable with your spouse, do you want the rest of your life to be a miserable one? And on the other hand if you love your spouse, isn't your marriage worth fighting for?
Nobody can tell you how to live your life, that is the one thing in this world we are all solely responsible for. So my advise to you is to really think about what you want and do it. Sometimes the hardest things and the right thing are the same thing.
