In life in general we have risk assessment - if we do this or that there are risks involved involved in pretty much everything we do in life. Some bigger then others.
When we make the decision to get married whether concisely or not we assess would this person make a good life partner (do they seem to be trust worthy) what are the risks if things go south. Would they make good parents etc.
I know I did I assessed the risks and took a leap of faith. I think my one main requirement was is this person going to be faithful.
I didnt really care about the cooking part or the house cleaning or the money aspect (if they had any coming in) which my STBX didnt (I didnt care about all of that). The one main requirement was is this person going to be faithful are they trustworthy.
Boy was I wrong on those assessments wrong or blind or just dumb in trusting. I should have done a better assessment. I hope I learn better going forward.

My take (my theory) on that is that they are SHALLOW - and this isn't just my observation.
Their thought process or intelligence or lack there of - is minute to minute - high to high - stupid to digging in even more stupid situation to digging in even more stupid until they crash or can't dig in anymore.
Unfortunately, I don't have any data to back me up and these folks probably won't come out and totally agree with my simplistic statement.
