Infidelity Support Group
Any relationship in which one partner engages willfully in sexual relations with another outside of the partnership is considered to have experienced infidelity. This breach of trust is often traumatizing for the faithful partner as well as the relationship, and support is often needed to heal emotionally and to decide whether or not the relationship should continue after...
I think it would be inappropriate for the therapist to accept the gift. Did the therapist accept it?
It reminds me of the episode of the Sopranos where Tony tried to tip his therapist in cash and she wouldn't accept it.
And not sure if it was wrong on his part to give it or not, but its kind of suspicious. I sent my MC a thank you letter for her efforts. That was it.
Just feels "snarky" IMHO....
Maybe I should bring a little thank you gift to my OBGY for HIS tender patient care... maybe a fine cigar...would that cross the line?
Yea, that doesn't sound right. Keep it work-related and professional. There are probably even rules/guidelines for reporting any gifts or compensation received. I know that in many of the jobs I worked, we could only receive something in value of up to $25 and if we did, we had to report it and offer up for a "raffle"
I think it's over the top for him to bring his T a bottle of wine. But she may file it away and add it to her assessment of his personality and what motivated him to do that.
I also agree that she shouldn't have accepted it but again, maybe she wants to see how the gift giving/ receiving will play out in his mind...
Yeah, it crosses the line...but I do like the cigar idea. Hilarious...
Tell him that she is paid for her help, just like DAB said. I just don't think this is professional at all.
L~
Eeeewww - That's a bit "Clinton-esque," don't you think?
And buys them beer! Your H just wine-ing and dining better class of losers!
I would be filing a complaint with the state board right away...
So he's "buying" her advice to be in his favor, and by her taking the wine she is agreeing!
REPORT HER!!! now
Having been a therapist, it is totally unacceptable to accept any gift whatsoever from one's client, it is unethical. She should have recognised immediately that he was coming on to her, after all she has been trained to spot these things and any professional would have done so.
Unfortunately I have to say some therapists are in the business for status and material gain only but I do hope that they are few and far between.
Affable
After all you have already been through, that was extremely insensitive on his part and unethical on hers.
