That said I do believe "some" man can change. But those man ate the ones who are showing true remorse for the pain they caused. They show how regretful they are and start to realise the pain they caused. They work on themselves by seeing a therapist to work on their issue because all cheaters have an issue with morals and boundaries and are selfish and immature. This can be worked on with therapy but without therapy he will just at some point fall back in the same cheating habits. So totally depends on ur situation. I'm giving my boyfriend a second chance but I do know the whole truth. he is truly remorsefull and i saw him hit his rock bottom. He is working hard on himself and us. I too do therapy cause it breaks everything to be cheated on. And he realizes its a long recovery it can take 2-3 years or mire to build trust again. They have to be an open book and don't have freedom anymore to go out with friends etc. If your ex thinks he can handle all that that sure he might change. If he thinks oh let's just get back together and act like nothing happened than no good luck to you.
Plus - he will more than likely show his true colors during this time as well.
I think the issue is more of priority of what attracts you. Everyone would agree that they would want an attractive mate who is good in bed. However, if you put that above loyalty, honesty, and selflessness you are putting yourself on a path to pain again.
If you get into a relationship again, knowing very well that he has these significant character/moral issues, then you are walking eyes wide open into a predictable situation.
Put some clear new rules on the table. Things that can help you trust him.
Tell him that it is a big deal for you to take him back but that trust is really bad.
Negotiate things where you can meet in the middle that will help with regainign that trust.
I think you will know very quick if you are getting what you want. If things don't go the way you want them, it will feel good to be the one who calls it quits this time.
