So sorry you had to go through this. I don't think you owed him anything either. I had a very painful conversation with my ex over 2 years ago when I confronted him and his cut downs of me still haunt me. I think you were smart to just leave.

I have hand with one of my ex's. It's priceless.

I run into my EX all the time and I just got to the point that I talk to him...but at the beginning, in 2005, I had run into him with her. He was all drunk and putting on this great show for me. Laughing and all.

To some extent, the mix of emotions was pretty mind blowing. Not anger, not hurt...he was trying to make me look like I was obselete, didn't matter, never did...like I was replaceable.

No one likes to have that feeling - like your very existence made no difference.

It bothered me for a few days...and then I decided to keep surrounding me with the people who mattered...my kids, my family, my friends...my puppies. I decided 'if he thinks I never mattered, at all...well, I do to some people, so that is who I am sticking with.'

Yeah, how you did it, to decide, and just walk out was a total class act! Many of us, just couldn't have done that! We needed to vent, yell, put down, beg, whatever!

I really think that how you did it is extremely rare, and the reason, of course, makes so much sense! I'm so glad you dumped his ass. In essence, you were able to leave him with an impression that he tried to put onto you, "I simply don't care about you"!

I think that his reaction to seeing you just goes to show you how effectively you showed him when YOU left. It probably shocked him so good at the time, that he is trying it out for himself to try to give you the same effect. Obviously it affected you, but not to the same level as time has passed now. Good for you!!!!--he can never re-enact the intensity of the effect you gave him.

Good job in doing what you felt you had to do. And for getting back out again.

Yes i have had exactly the same thing happen, and my stbx and i were standing next to each other at the counter of the fuel station. Never said a thing and never acknowledged each other....

i cried later that day about it. How can you be so close..and only a matter of weeks later, its like you are total strangers...?

Maybe OT but mine was kinda the opposite.

I had my "D-Day" and my W wasn't breaking it off cleanly. I call the OM and we met in a public library (didn't trust myself). After som pointed conversation he agreed to a clean break (didn't expect him to keep his word, I mean he is a liar too) I implied that I was going to tell his wife.


Some months later He walks up behind me at a local coffee house and tries to strike up a conversation.... Talk about pushing his luck.

As a side note she gets mad a me for not telling her that I talked to him oh and He did break his word once that I know of. Karma struck someone (not me) sent a card to his wife telling her of the A.

I wish more Karma would have struck!!!
