I've been married almost 30 years to the same man. We've had a good marriage, raised 4 kids who are now all grown. The last 5 years have been difficult...empty nest, some really stressful family issues with 2 of our kids. Job stress, middle age, and stuffing emotions.
Hubby is not a talker, and has never been. He works with a woman of similar age (late 40's), and they "hit it off" right away. Worked well together etc. The first time I saw them together at a Holiday Party, I told him that she "liked him" and he needed to be careful. Her husband was a goof, and I knew she would divorce him when her girls were grown, and she did.
After 3 years of me confronting him about her, he finally admitted that he had gotten Emotionally Attached to her. He shared some very personal family issues with her, which was what set me off the first time.
He says he wants to go into counseling (scheduled for the second week of February),and that he told her this. He wants to work through this and not give up on 30+ years of being together. I think hs is being truthful...but I'm feeling so betrayed. I believe him when he says it hasn't gotten physical.
This emotional attachment is harder somehow than a physical affair would have been. I'm really struggling today with this and feel like I can't compete with his fantasy of what she has to offer him. She represents all the good stuff (new and fun) and I represent the family issues and the ugly stuff we've not dealt with.
It's too much to post at one time. I just need to know there are others out there that have dealt with the same thing.

I was in the same situation and I am sorry to say this...after 2 months of being led to believe he had an "emotional affair" he came clean. I suspected it was physical but he knew that would ruin me if I knew. We are trying to work things out but I just had to know every little dirty detail. Part of me wants to call her and confront her, and tell her to remove herself from this. They do work together. I can't expect either of them to leave their jobs over this. (my husband has worked at this company for almost 28 years)
