We don't celebrate either one anymore, but life goes on. These dates are truly meaningless in of themselves.
People don't celebrate birthdays of those who have died and it goes the same for relationships of the past.
The relationship you have now a new one that followed the death of your previous relationship. Focus on the day to day and let these hallmark funded days just pass as any other day.
Realize that it is you that is allowing society/others to put a personal emphasis on these days. Treat it like any holiday you don't have any attachment to.
My month is October... I hate the month and anything that has to do with it. Last year was tough... but I went to my H and he makes me feel better. He’s genuine, knows not to talk me down from the emotional ledge ... just hold me and tell me he loves me.
Talk to your husband.. tell him what you need from him
I am going to pray for you and I wish you happy thoughts..
don't feel bad about how you feel.
I can't tell if it is just anxiety or if something is still going on. I get so upset, too, just remembering all he put me through. And for what? While he loved the attention, the risk-taking, he never loved her. If he wanted her, there is nothing I could do to keep him. He's still here.
Get as much comfort and reassurance from him as you can. In the meantime create your own coping mechanisms. It's really all you can do.
