... and I just wanted to share.
The H and I took his daughter (from his first marriage), who is visiting for Christmas, to the grocery store. When we were in the checkout line, I was near the credit/debit/EBT machine, he was bagging our little bit of food ... and I asked him if I should use my EBT card (Food Stamps) to pay for my part of the groceries. I thought he was going to fall on the ground from embarrassment, him and his new Oakley sunglasses and new Cashmere jacket. And when his 12 yo asked what food stamps were ... well, the moment was priceless.
Embarrassment ... priceless.
(Don't get me wrong, I don't abuse the government aid system ... I seriously have nothing. And I am very grateful to every taxpayer for helping me and my child have food. )
The New Year is almost here, but then again any day can be the beginning of your new year.

when i left him, after our second was born, i got aid from the state. i remember the first time he was shopping with us during the reconciliation, he got pissed that i had it and my oldest told him that if he was paying any support we might not need it. he was only two or so at the time, and i know he had heard that from my mom, but it was hilarious. the lady at the checkout said dont worry, the state'll hit him up for that support soon enough. i thought he fell litrally thru the floor for that one! they all think they are king of the mountain, till the mountain crumbles beneath them!
