My cheating/lying soon to be ex husband is finally out of the house- first night in his own place and I feel great. Will sleep like a baby. I spent a year post d-day trying to make him see how great our life and marriage was but he never cut his whore away and strung me along the whole time- never thinking of our daughter and how her life will be affected by his selfishness.  I feel disgust towards him but trying to remain civil for my daughter. I’m lonely but I realize now that I’m not missing him- just not used to being alone after 18 years and I should not confuse the two.  I’m getting there....

I'm glad you are remaining civil for your daughter's sake. She loves him despite his flaws. I understand how you could feel like you do, really, but be prepared for your feelings to go through various stages. At some point all you will feel is pity then you can pray for him because his actions will haunt him. You can move on and live an honest, healthy life.

If you have a church community, or close family, this could be a good support for you and your daughter. I'm glad that you are away from him and the toxicity he brought to your life.

That is the problem. I have NO support here. My parents died and my sisters live out of state. Very few friends, but made a couple at work, but I hate discussing my personal life with co-workers. I may try a divorce support group to try to talk with those going through the same thing. I feel very lonely and rejected and fighting moments of insecurity.

I understand what that feels like, both having no support and not liking discussing my personal life. I think a divorce support group is a great idea. That way you can be sure they understand and can keep it private rather than oversharing at work. I pray you find the group that is the best for you. It's okay to feel insecure - totally normal - and loneliness is also to be expected. It won't always stay this way but I know can sure feel like it. Hugs

Those are all normal feelings. I would also suggest a church group or maybe taking up a new hobby or a class. But I think a divorce group would be the first priority right now. I did one when I got divorced; it had eight weekly sessions, which gave me somewhere to be each week where I got support. It was so helpful, I took it again a year later and it was even more meaningful then. Best wishes on your recovery. It may be slow but sure; do the necessary work now on yourself and when you are healed, you will be completely healed. This is a special time to try to make new friends. Hugs

Staying Positive, It is always hard when a married couple split. We tend to forget why we fell in love in the first place. We forget all the hopes and dreams and that is a great loss. My only suggestions for you would seek someone you can speak to as you will go through many ups and downs and when you have a person you can speak with it can help so you do not become depressed. I know you may feel relieved, but any type of loss is loss and can trigger a wide range of emotions.
