Dragonfly, this is great advice. The only problem I have is in your second sentence, as an affair is no mistake. But I'll presume it is just a word you're using to describe something wrong.
Removing anything that's within your control that produces triggers, is paramount. Some are unavoidable, like Cali's incident, and I've experienced the same, driving by places that produce triggers. But as long as one can remove the bigger triggers, one is able to heal quicker.
I'm glad to hear that you have reconciled successfully and that you have a counsellor to help you deal with and maneuver your way around and over hurdles.
Even now, years later, the smell of eucalyptus trees can trigger me. The apartment complex she cheated in (and was a manager for), had a row of those trees in front.
