Hope everyone here doesn't mind..I was with this group for quite some time and came to really respect everyone here..having a hard time connecting with others on divorce forum..anyway..I just found out that my stbx got fired for stealing from his job..imagine that,being dishonest in other aspects??!! My question is,what will happen to my child support and alimony I have been getting? I can call my lawyer,but I'm dying here and needed to know if anyone had any experience with this. Thanks everyone..for the record,hes been gone since August and I haven't felt this good in a long time. No contact is the way to go!!

Definitely call your lawyer. I would NOT take his word for anything. Know your rights, and ask questions.

You won't get it until he gets another job. He will still owe it and will get behind on it. My daughters ex owes her over 15,000.00 dollars because he keeps quitting jobs. You can go to court with your attorney but if he doesn't have a job,they will warn him to get a job or he will be in contempt. If he got caught stealing,he will have a hard time finding a job also. Sorry to give you bad news but you are about to find out what our court system is made of. Check out your state laws to see what his consequences could be. So far my daughter has not been able to do anything dealing with four states. If he ever comes in the state where we live,we can have him arrested but he will never come here,we know that. He does not want contact with his two kids at all. Hopefully,his conscience is better than that. I hope that you have better luck than this. There are circumstances that the judge will lower child support pmts and alimony. Just get prepared financially. Please write again if you need support or info.

Depending on your state, your financial situation and a number of other items. If the state withholds money from him and you are in financial dureess most states will front that money to you, and then recover it in "arrerrs" from him plus interest once he obtains new employment.

You can go after the unemployment which is source of funds for him.

Yes the state can give you funds "social services" and they will go after him for payment once he secures new job.
