Today would have been my 16th wedding anniversary. Funny how I didn't realize until I had to write the date at work. I can't say I feel completely sad, I guess just indifferent is the word. Being that my son is having major issues with this right now, and blaming me for the divorce (as he stated yesterday), I feel sad for him and my 5 year old. I just think I needed to just express this. Tears are welling up in my eyes now....damn.
I want to say it's better after 3 years of being divorced, but it's not...not for my children, who are struggling with the loss of having a nuclear family. So today, as bad as this may sound, I will be mad at my ex, for causing this for them. On this day that we were married and supposed to be "death do us part", I think he deserves a little bit of my nastiness. Thank you for letting me vent.

Vent away, it makes you feel better getting it all out. I am sorry that your son is having a hard time and blaming you. I am in the very beginning stages of divorce and my kids are having the same reaction as yours. Its all my fault because "I kicked their Daddy out" and was told by my son that he would never speak to me again if I file for divorce and break up the family. As a parent it is tough to hear those words but as an adult we make the decisions that we feel are best for everyone whether they like it or not. Also, have what would be our 13th wedding anniversary this month which will be just another day.

Also, in time your son will see and understand you are not the one to blame and you made the decisions to make things better for you and your kids. Hang in there!

Hugs! Venting is therapeutic. I am so sorry your son blames you but know in time when he is a little older and you can speak rationally with him, he will see it for what it is. My kids (now almost 18 and 11) were young when we first started this process 5 years ago. They both understand what their dad did, is still doing and continues to do. My oldest is now "friends" with his dad and accepts what he has done. My youngest just came out in therapy last week that she wishes we were back together. They will always put the blame somewhere until they can figure it out and rationalize it in their own heads. My son has told me though, he can understand why I don't want to have anything to do with their dad, but it's still their dad. Your boys are still young. Hug them and tell them every day how much you love them. One day hopefully he will come around. It's a hard road with kids.

we are all here to support you.
for some the answer is simple in the seperation, or the rebuild. For some the answer is hard. But the one thing that is common is that the results of it are life changing and have life long effects. Children are resiliant, but they will always have questions, and the struggle as a parent is to make sure they are happy and we are good parents to them together or not.

This date will a,ways have meaning to you. When you got married it was the start if something wonderful, and I hope you dd have some wonderful years. You certainly got wonderful kids I'm guessing! But so sad that it could not have carried on "till death do us part". It's so disillusioning, and sorry to hear it still hurts. Hang in there. Hugs
