18 years ago today I was a young blushing bride. There was a blizzard that day and my biggest concern was whether or not guests would be able to attend and where to keep them all if they couldn't get home.
I didn't think about fidelity. I wasn't concerned with honesty. I didn't wonder when the day would come that my heart would be shattered into a million pieces. I was in love and I believed in his love for me. I believed that when I was weak, he would be strong. I believed that if he didn't know how to do something, I'd figure it out. I believed we'd be a team and that our teamwork would conquer all.
A lot has changed.
But I still believe in teamwork.
I still believe in his love for me.

If ever you're "stuck" for a date idea that will get conversation flowing and help you to reconnect, a long, drawn out meal can definitely help. We typically do fondue, but tonight we went to a wine bar that serves tapas (small plates). Puuurrrfect. We got to sample a little of this, a little of that, and have some yummy wine pairings to go with.
Definitely a treat, and definitely worth the time invested. We walked out feeling that warm comfortable buzz of good wine, good food, and good company.
We're still working on things, but I feel like after our year 2 DDay anniversary, now we're working on making US better instead of just "recovering from the affair". It's a lot harder, in some ways, but a lot more fulfilling and a lot less painful.
Glad I stuck it out. Glad he gave me incentive to want to. Glad after all of my own mistakes he wanted to put the effort in, too.
