HI all,
I'm having a shocking time. yesterday we had to let our beloved bunny go to bunny heaven which has been devastating! He had been with us for 11yrs (since DH and I got together) and he has been a major part of our family. As you know, not having children means that our pets become our fur babies and having to let Zippy go has been incredibly difficult!
I feel like I have lost yet another child and that a massive part of my life has just been ripped away. However I can't grieve for him in the way I would a child. I can't take time off work and I can't just burst into tears and scream.
I feel that this IF journey is so difficult and so misunderstood. everything we do seems to be contrary to what 'normal' people do. We put our bodies through hell, spend every penny on treatment which, most times, does not work, we grieve for unborn babies that have left us way to soon or for children that have never come at all, we treat our pets as children and grieve deeply when we have to let them go, and all the while people look at us as if we are totally insane...
I feel gutted and sick of all this and I know that I can never, no matter how hard I try, get away from it....

Zippy sounds like he was quite a treasure.
Our two cats have always been children to us. And when we lost one of our cats to cancer at age 8, it was devastating. (He was diagnosed at age 6.) He had been the heart & soul of our house...a cat with quite a personality. He was an orange guy with quite a bit of Maine Coon in him.
Animals' love is so unconditional. They are so loyal. It is beyond painful to lose them.
I am so sorry that you are going through this now on top of everything else. My condolences.
The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over together.
I'm a big animal lover too, and I have gotten so crushed when my animals have passed. One person said to me, "why have animals if it hurts so bad when they die". I thought about it, and it's because it's their life, and the time we had together that makes all the pain worth it. I see that my animals could have lived with someone else, who would maybe not love them as much or even could have hurt them. So I see the pain of them leaving as my sacrifice to ensure they had a good life. It find comfort in knowing that all my animals have had the best life I could give them. I'm sure you gave your bunny an amazing 11 years on this planet, and that is the best gift you can give an animal or person. Going through a loss while TTC for so long is a different kind of pain, and my thoughts are with you.
