I am so sorry to hear that but I have to agree. I tried the same thing but the ones that the office referred to me were not covered under my insurance. I ended going to someone who supposedly specialized in infertility and was covered under insur. What a joke! She couldn't help me at all. First of all, she didn't experience it so she had no clue as to how I was feeling. Then she spent my hour telling me about her other patient that was going through IVF. Are you kidding me? All I kept thinking the whole hour was, coming home and checking in on here. I can't tell you how much all the people on here has helped me. I'm starting injections on Sunday and am an a mess but pretty confident that I can do it thanks to my support on here.

I am so glad I found this support because NOBODY understands unless you experienced it.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, ladies. I've been debating about seeing a counselor, but worried about something similar happening. Plus I can't see paying high prices in addition to all the cost of treatment. Hope you all find some peace at least for a moment!!

I've been reading a book called "Unsung Lullabies," written by 3 psychologists, all of whom experienced years of infertility or recurrent miscarriage. I'm only 2 chapters in, but so far, it's really been helping me. I got it used on Amazon.com for next to nothing. '

The entire book is designed to help women deal with their emotions during infertility, and you can tell that the writers get it.

I too have been considering seeing my clinic's psychologist, but I'm just not sure whether it would help or not. I do wish I lived near these psychologists though (apparently they run an infertility counseling center in California somewhere)

I had the same experience. I went for about 3 months and it wasn't very helpful. I felt like a broken record and she looked and me like please talk about something else. I have two people in my life who get this - one who went through it and one who is going through it. Honestly, everyone else including DH, don't get it. I got AF today after another hopeful 2WW and I can't take it anymore. I feel like I'm my own medical expert. Should I take the herbs? Do I need progesterone? Docs are great if you want to go the IVF route, but when you are still hoping to make it happen on your own they don't do much good. Or at least that is how I feel at 1:15 a.m. typing this after crying for two hours. I know hope is so important but what do you do when you are starting to lose it??

Pyschologists are not all created the same. I've seen a few in my life and only this last one (fifth I've seen) has clicked with me. I started seeing her after my 3rd miscarriage and she's had good advice for that, for my 3 IVFs, throughout my pregnancy and after the baby was born. She hasn't been through IF herself but she did listen to me and she focused on helping me. I found her advice invaluable over the past three years. If your insurance will cover it I suggest trying to see a few more. Mine actually doesn't specialize in IF and I don't think that's necessary. Being a good listener is really most important.

I find that going to a professional psychologist isn't worth time or energy because more then half of them are "trained" not experienced with any issues.

I worked in a school of psychology as admin and even if I wanted to go seek professional help with a psychologist, I can't because I know most of the ones that are practicing today or there are students that know me doing their practicum/internship there. Even though with the privacy laws out there, I'm not taking any chances.

I find that I get more support here or with my best friend...
