What is your story?
We are a bit older (I'm 35 and he is 38), started 5 years ago trying to conceive, first by removing barriers (contraceptive) and then about a year in tracking my cycle. 3 years ago we first went to a fertility clinic just to have things checked and nothing came back concerning. We just continued to try in a very relaxed and non-pressured way. It was when his father became sick with terminal cancer that we really tried harder as his father wanted to know what it was like to be a grandfather (talk about pressure!). He has two sibling 11 and 12 years younger than him, so we are at different stages of life. We switched clinics because the one we got was getting very bad reviews and complaints, and at the new clinic the dr. point blank said we should have been pregnant by now and ran further testing. That's when my parents sperm results, which otherwise came back at very normal before, showed poor "dna fragmentation". We are pretty lucky most things are covered here (Canada) but there were some tests we paid for like this one. The real blow was that this issue meant a very low chance of conceiving naturally and rules out IUI and IVF as options. Pretty much it meant his sperm would never fertilize my eggs. He shut down and I went into full on panic mode. The good news is he has had some improvements with vitamins and medication, which now brings us back to trying the old fashion way before moving to IVF (maybe this spring). I am on my second round of Famera to ensure my eggs are fully healthy and maybe even ovulate more than one in a cycle. I am feeling the pressure though age-wise which is stressing me out! To add to it, my partner's brother recently informed us his gf are pregnant. I was pretty devastated by this news, which feels terrible to admit, and is what I am finding myself having a very difficult time to accept and be happy about. Anyways, long story I know, sorry about that. It's not always easy to sum up! Just trying to stay positive...
