So I posted earlier asking about IUI and what it's like. Unfortunately I won't be experiencing that this month. I had a dr's appointment today to have an ultrasound to see how many follicles were produced from my taking clomid this cycle and he found 1 on the left and 4 and a small one the right. Due to the chances of conceiving multiples in high numbers and the HCG injection causing possible complications of hyperstimulation they strongly suggested cancelling. After much concideration I decided Dr. knows best...

Feels like a wasted cycle.. =o(

The pain is intense for the ovulation right now. When I stand up I get that narrowing/blacking out vision feeling and at one point I had to kneel down in the living room thinking I was going to faint. Ugh!

I am so sorry this is happening this way. I know where you are at - my last cycle, i produced 44 follicles. I know the pain you are talking about. The good news is, it doesn't necessarily mean it will happen the next cycle. Good luck and I am hoping next cycle goes better for you.

I really feel for you... There is nothing like having to cancel your plans and feeling like you are wasting your month. Hope next cycle is a better one.

So sorry....I had the opposite (sort of) ...I had an IVF cancelled and converted into an IUI again because I only produced ONE follicle. It is very depressing considering I was already told that IUI probably won't work for us (this is the third try). I am just curious....why cancel with 5 follicles? I did both of my first two rounds with 3-5 follicles.Are you young? I am over 40 so I think they WANT more since there isn't as high of a chance that it will even work at all. Again, so sorry.....don't lose hope!

Sorry to hear about the cancellation and pain! Are you in a position where you could try naturally? You know you are ovulating... And with 5 follicles.... The chances are great!!! I wish I was in your position right now. Baby dust!!!!

So sorry to hear that!!! I assume your doctor knows best. We were worried about the same thing because I had a ton of follies...8 to be exact. Only about 4 of them were mature enough and since we have had so many cycles cancelled previously, they had us do half of a trigger shot, which I guess would only let the most mature one or two follies go (hopefully). At least you know what works, so next cycle could be the one for you. Good luck!!!

I am sorry to hear that. I had a similar thing happen in May. It was our 2nd injectible cycle. The 1st injectible cycle I stimmed for 26 days and didn't get a mature follice. My RE decided to be more agressive and I overstimmed. I had about 15 follicles on each side mature and many others close. My RE gave me the option to convert to IVF, but DH and I were freaked out by the thought of having the transfer the next day. We didn't feel prepared. My RE refunded the entire cycle. He then made me take a medication called ganirelex to suppress my ovaries.

I know it is frusterating and you feel like you wasted your time. But, you should be confident your dr is making decisions in your best interest. Also, did your dr do bloodwork? It may not just be the follicle count is the reason he cancelled. It may be due to your E2 levels. That is what happened to me...my levels were rising even 2 days after I stopped meds. If that happens you could be at risk for OHSS.

Try to find the positive in the situation. Each cycle is hard, but with each you are step closer to your baby! Your body produced a good number of follicles. Keep the faith!
