Hi all,
Today's my birthday and I'm reaching out because I'm a little down.
My husband and I have been struggling with infertility for about 2 years. I never knew something like this could be so painful. With so many reminders (friends getting pregnant, birth announcements, and family members asking, "So when are you having kids?") I feel that infertility has become a shadow that hovers around me, not willing to leave.
Not being able to have a baby is so isolating. I feel alienated from friends and family, because I'm not being truthful with them and the worst part is I am sick of hiding! I want to talk about it, I want to add to the discussion that this is something a ton of people go through, but my husband wants to keep it private. It's difficult to talk about it with him (he's still in denial), and he gets defensive and upset when I bring it up.
I've done all of my tests, except the HSG (my doctor is saying it isn't necessary) and I'm fine. My husband refuses to get tested at this point, he needs time to accept. I know this, I do, but man is it hard to be patient. I know how scared he is, going through these tests are hard, but I also don't want to have a child with someone who isn't prepared go through something hard like this. I need him to take the risk and face the problem.

Gosh, do I know this feeling...it is heart breaking. My husband and I tried for 8 years. Finally we got pregnant almost a year to today. I can't take your pain away but I wanted you to know that I do understand and hope that your husband can accept what is going on soon. Just try and be as honest and open with him as much as possible. You probably do need some support if you are ready to talk openly about it...I think your in the right place! Post as many questions and venting as possible. It took us several years to talk about it openly with family and friends. Now if someone was to ask me I probably give too much information. I did get pregnant and had a beautiful baby boy in September. It can happen just stay positive...hollar if I can listen :) Take care!
