Hi all,

I just got back from my second ultrasound... my lining is only 6.2 with a week to go before transfer.

The technician told me it was a bit thin an she thought they may cancel the cycle as they may not want to waste a healthy embie as I only have 2, she said that they would most probably send me for another ultrasound either Friday or Monday...

Then the IVF clinic called only to tell me that all 'looked good' (WTF?)

I got a little mad at them because I have had one miscarriage 3 months ago and I know that thin lining can produce a miscarriage, so I asked them why they were saying that it was o.k when the tec said that it didn't look good. they told me that they weren't overly concerned as my lining has gone up from 5.5 to 6.2 in 2 days and it may continue to get thicker so to go for my blood test the day before the transfer and continue taking my tablets.

I am beyond worried, I really could not cope with another miscarriage and I am scared that they will let it go through without checking that the lining is o.k.

I have always heard that they like your lining to be at about 10, but I doubt that mine will get anywhere near there...

what do you girls think? am I panicking over nothing?

I too have thin lining problems so my RE had me on estrace during my entire treatment cycle and I'm 9 wks pg and still on it. Estrace thickens it very quickly so I'd call your RE and ask if it is something that would help you.

I don't know anything about what measurements they look for for the lining. Follicles are confusing enough. ;-)
It does sound like you would be nearing 10 by the time of your transfer if it continues to thicken each day. Call the IVF clinic back and let them know how concerned you are. Worry isn't fun and I'm sure isn't helping your body prepare. Best of luck to you!!

I am in the same boat as you are. Preparing for FET transfer. I had my ultrasound on Tuesday and it was 7.1C. I was on Estrace medication, taking 2 times a day. They said that my lining it little thin, then want it to be 8 for a transfer, so they up my medication (now taking 4 tables a day). Have another ultrasound on Friday. Hoping for the best. I spoke to a nurse and she said it happens. What is the result of your blood test? They told me that because my blood test was Ok, not to worry.

Thanks all for your replies.

My husband called them back yesterday and they told him that all if fine and that I am only .2 to .4 behind what they would like to see at this stage.
Hopeful- They are refusing to give me any other meds to thicken the lining, they are saying all is o.k, however I am so scared!

SharynMarie- I swear they think I am a mushroom.... and need to be kept in the dark and fed s*&%$...! I swear this process has been more stressful than my fresh cycle!

Mira- they never give me the results of my blood work, like I said, to them the less info they give you the happier they are :-(

My clinic's "minimum" lining is 7.0. With a week to go, I'd say you are on target. However, I have dealt with thin lining issues for years and know that stress you feel. I always use Estrace to help thicken it.

I would recommend listening to the nurse. No offense, but the techs are not as educated about the whole process. I had a simliar situation where a tech told me one thing and the nurse said something. I try to balance the information--meaning I do not want to alienate the tech. Techs will generally give you hints before the doctor or nurse calls with the final decision. However, they are techs. Again, I do not mean this in a derogatory manner.

To digress for a minute. On my job my colleagues and I have to know our jobs and understand how our jobs affects other departments. Other departments do not reciprocate. I am just saying many techs might only know their job. They may not fully understand how long a cycle lasts, the different meds available, etc. They only know what they have experienced to date.

I believe most techs are only trying to help. The nurse and the doctor have to give it to you straight. Meaning if they thought the cycle would be cancelled it is better to tell you earlier rather than later. I guess the short version I would not want to "tell" on the tech. Because if he or she has good news, they may be too scared to share it for fear of what if I am wrong; I do not want to get reprimanded again.
