You are definitely not alone! I just got our credit card bill from this last failed round of IVF. Ugh! I'm not sure which stinks the most, the failure of the cycle or now having to pay the bill. I really wish there was some sort of agreement that if the cycle failed then you only had to pay half or something.

I agree, the clinic is like let's do it again next cycle. I am saying do you have some money to give me??

We definitely know how you feel! We have only done our first IUI and are already feeling the blow, and we have such a long way to go as I'm predicting we will do this several times as well as a few IVFs. I'm so sorry for your loss though, I can't imagine how terrible that feels.

As for the finances, desperate times call for desperate measures. Combined with my enormous amount of student loans, our mortgage, our fence is being eaten by termites, our roof had to be replaced because of hail damage and now we're undergoing fertility treatment. Our insurance pays for the testing but not the treatment.

This has forced us to be creative. We are cutting our cable, we got a new and cheaper phone plan. My husband buys broken motorcycles, fixes them, then sells them for a prophet. Along with my full time job, I started my own business on the side, but it only runs in the Summer time but has proven to be successful. I am looking into selling Arbonne and have started writing children's books.

I often feel overwhelmed but I try to keep positive. If we weren't in this position we would not be forced to be creative, and by being creative we have found new callings! And these new callings, and projects, and side jobs will hopefully help us finance our life when we finally are able to conceive, raise our family, and hopefully give them a college education as well.

My counselor (who also struggled with infertility but went on to have 2 healthy grown children) said that one day this pain and struggle will be important to our children. When the time is right and they are old enough to know all we went through in order to make their lives possible.

I know in my heart that all this is worth it, and I hope you find strength and piece!

Hi guys, my husband and I have just started looking into IVF. We live in Ohio and have found a highly recommended clinic in New York called CNY Fertility Center. Again I have not done a lot of research yet, but this clinic is considerably cheaper then any in Ohio AND they run package deals. Might be something to look into.

Yes, I am throwing money out the window as well, 1 IUI, 3 IVF, 1 FET. Still no baby, GRRRRR! It really stinks when it costs so much and all we get is pain in return.

It should never cost money to lose a baby.

I have heard of shared risk plans. I never went that route so I dont know the details but I have heard that they can help to ease the financial burden. Good luck!

Yep, feel the same way! I have never paid so much money for not actually getting anything in return! We were going over finances lately and realized we spend 1/5 of our income over the past year on IF treatments, WTF! Luckily we had some help with some of that from our family. But still, thats so messed up!
