Hi the procedure is different from everyone. My first cycle I took Luprone injections for about three weeks. I also took Follistum(stimulate)injections once a day for a little over two weeks. You will go in for more bloodwork then you can imagine and several ultrasounds. Once your follicles are ready you go in for the egg retrieval. Everyone varies on how they feel after I was fine. Then depending on your clinic you will go back three to five days later for your transfer. In between the retrieval and transfer they will call and tell you how many eggs they retrieved as well as how many fertilized. Oh ya and a few days before the transfer you will start projestrone injections. It all seems like a lot and your head spins but most places walk you through step by step and the injections are not bad you do get used to them. Good Luck

Kristen is right that it varies from person to person. If you are considering it and have read about it, it appears to be very overwhelming. We did it, and from the first shot to the beta test, it was a little less than four weeks.

I had different shots to do from the beginning of it. I also went for ultrasounds and bloodwork every two to three days to check on how things were progressing. As things went along, they measured for placement and did a trial transfer.

Then they do the egg retrieval. The process doesn't hurt at the time but you will be a little sore after. Then as Kristen said, you will go back three to five days later depending on your doctor's office's procedures. There is usually bed rest involved. My doctor requires three days after the transfer. Some offices don't require as long.

Don't sweat it. The doctor should give you a list of what to do. I had a schedule of what shots to do and when. I also had a schedule for when I was going for ultrasounds and bloodwork. At first is really overwhelming, after you get going it is second nature.

How is the egg retrieval done? Do you go under? Do they give you any kind of medication? does it hurt?

For the retrieval you are given anesthesia for it. As my doctor put it, you are in a twilight zone. During this process, you don't feel a thing. At my doctor's office, you are in recovery for about an hour afterwards and then bedrest for the remainder of the day. I was sore after the procedure. I was pretty sore and bloated the next day also. I was feeling pretty good two to three days after. You can take Tylanol after for pain relief. It really doesn't hurt, but to be honest, many people are uncomfortable afterwards.

My proces was a little different. I was on bc for 3wks 5/2 started lupron 5/15 then baseline u/s and b/w 5/31. Started stim meds 6/2 then u/s every other day to check follie size. Trigger shot 6/9 egg retrieval 6/11 no anesthisia(sp?) a shot of demoral in my rear :) no pain w/ procedure sore ovaries afterward. Then transfer 5 days later on 6/16 then first beta 6/25. That was my basic schedule.
