People do not get IF if they have not walked in our shoes. The adivce gets really old sometimes!

IF is one of those dirty little secrets that no one wants to talk about if they're suffering through treatments, but everyone outside of it loves to talk about. At least that's what I've found lately. People love to give unwarranted advice, whether you want it or not. The worst part is that they don't understand IF or the pain that comes from it! I've heard the same piece of advice a dozen times in the past 6 months, and the people who tell it to me are the same each time. I doubt they'll ever understand, unfortunately.

Oh yea. I get sooooooooo sick and tired of the "oh well I had a friend who tried and tried and couldnt get pregnant, then one day years later when she least expect it, she got pregnant. So if you just pray and be patient it will come...."....blabla bla. I wanna scream and say "hey dumb ass, my tubes are destroyed! Blocked! 100%! So. That cant happen to me no matter what. Now if I can find $12,000 laying around I can do IVF and thats not gauranteed!!! So shut the -------- up!"

Everyone thinks theyre such an expert about something they know nothing about. I wish we could all be together when these idiots say these things. Id put em in their place for ya!!!!!! So u dont have to.

I too wish I could afford IVF we have been trying for 12yrs to start a family.. pressure from friends and family. I just wish everyone would understand.

I'm sorry that people are so unkind. I know that it is hard, but please try to ignore them. It really isn't anybody's business but yours. Best of luck to you.

its taken me 12 years to discover my IF issues also - i always thought it was just not the right time etc ...
how many opinions can you take - at the end of the day its the same tests etc - that all lead back to one option - assistance like IVF etc
its taken us 3 years to save for ... nightmare burden for us all to live with - debt, emotional turbulance, communication issues etc - no they DONT GET IT!! and at the same time as they are talking i bet they are wishing is doesnt happen to them

People who don't experience IF or have ever experienced, never know where us who have experienced it are feeling. My best friend used to reply to me "I just don't know what to say to comfort you".....as she has never experienced it, she was honest, and I understood....but others don't. Sorry hun....Hugs to you.

Completely agree. Sometimes I just want to scream. I love the comments like "Take a vaction" "Just relax, it'll happen".... Yeah, ok. You try planning a vacation around testing, blood work, ultrasounds, shots, appointments, and procedures. Oh..... and go through all of that and tell me how easy it is for you to relax! Really, people. Get it together.

I was just thinking about this this morning! If you have never experienced IF then you have NO business dispensing advice about it!

This makes me so angry - I had a friend who quizzed me every month, did we try, what happened, how do I feel. After about 8 months I finally told her to back off. She responds with, "I just wanted you to be more excited". EXCITED FOR WHAT???? Nothing happens and then when we do have success, we lose it. It's about all I can do not to reach through the phone and slap her. This was also the same person who freaked out when it took her 3 months to conceive #3. She's allowed to freak out after 3 months, but after 6 months, I'm supposed to be ok with NOTHING, cuz it's God's will. I'm a christian but it's stupid wenches like her that make other christians look like hypocritical neurotic psychos.

Oh and the other friend who keeps telling me to quit trying/quit stressing, cuz that's when it'll happen. Also tells me to watch that movie "What to expect when you're expecting", cuz you are so Elizabeth Shue, she struggles with IF too. Like my life is a freaking 90 minute comedy. GO F YOURSELF!!!!!
