I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I started reading the posts a few days ago and have found a lot of encouragement in seeing the support you guys show each other here, and of course in seeing I am not alone! Its nice seeing there are people who really know how you are feeling.

I guess since I am already writing, I'll throw out a question too. Since my DH's sperm count is so low, at this point they are saying IVF is the only likely chance of a pregnancy. Of course they are saying we should just try the vitamins first to see if it increases it enough for IUI. Anyone out there seen a significant increase just from vitamins? I think its smart to give it a try, but I also feel like my common sense is saying its a waste of time. His counts were an average of only about 1.5 million. I would appreciate hearing what others have experienced with vitamins. Thanks!

I am not a doctor So this is just my personal opinion. I think your financial situation might be a big factor here. If money is not a major concern for you, then I say try vitamins first to see if it increases it enough for IUI. But if money is a major factor the $$$ spent on the IUI and stuff is all money that could be put towards IVF and if the doc is saying IVF is the only likely chance of a pregnancy. I would personally just skip right to IVF! I wish we had done that. All the time, money and energy we have wasted on Clomid, IUIs, ect. I want to cry when I think about it. I wish we have just jumped right to IVF. We should have pulled out the big guns right way and just done the IVF. But the cost scared me and now I realize all this IF and TTC is actually going to cost us more because we are still going to have to do IFV now. But that is just my opinion, only you and DH know what is best for you and what you are most comfortable with. Good luck!

I don't think trying the herbals and vits hurt. We saw and others have seen a rise with them. Also, hopefully there has been more than one SA before calling it count issues. I've seen so much variability with the sperm that it seems forgotten sometime. That said, do what is best for you, your ages, and your financial abilities. Adding more stress can make it work. I too wished we would have skipped the IUI's now that 5 have failed and trying one more.....that said, had we seen a +++++ I would say differently:-)

Welcome! I know what a lifesaver this support group has been for me. Its one of those things where you are glad that you are a part of something so helpful but we all wish we didnt have to be a part of.

I cant offer you any advice on the low sperm counts but good luck with where ever our journey to motherhood takes you.

THank you for your responses! We are lucky enough to actually have up to $15,000 in coverage from our insurance. My DH was just about to quit the job that he hates before we discovered what the problems were and that we had coverage through his insurance. He is willing to stick it out a bit longer so we can have coverage, but I just don't want to drag it out and keep him at a job he hates if it won't make much difference and we have to do IVF anyway.

Welecome to the site. It has really helped me deal with IF. I also agree there should be more than one SA before calling it count issues. My DH "s sperm count has been very different each time. I wish u the best of luck.
