hey are yo not able to do it yourself? i have to do injections too but i just close my eyes and stick it in...in fact the first time i did it i had really stressed myself outin all the prep and stuff cos it wasnt doing what it was supposed to do...v.long story... that when it came to actually doing the injection it was the easiet part!!

I don't know the area. I just suggest you practice on an orange. I know you can do!! You can! You have to and you will!! ASk the RE office to practice with an orange with you and then just normal saline into your belly a couple of times with them. I promise you can do. We have our diabetic children get the hang of it!! And the IM is just a dart your husband can do it too.. He just has to practice too!! Everyone thinks they can't do it and We all CAN b/c we HAVE TO! Good luck!

Even it you stick you upper thigh, it makes it easier. I was terrified of needles before this IVF stuff. I can remember the day I had to start my Lupron injections! I had buckets of sweat in the palms of my hands. Once I finally got the nerve, I just stick it in. I felt a lil pinch but more like a bee sting, not even that! Well, after I got my BFN 4/08, 2 wks later I was dx with Type 1 diabetes and have to stick myself 4x/day!! Needless to say, Im a pro at needles now.

Good luck. Just remember the needles will help produce "multiple follies" that will get you that bundle of joy!!

My DH was the same way! I relied on others to do my shots but became much more of a hassle to do so! One night the girl that was doing them just did not show up or call! I told my DH he HAD to do it! It took him over an hour but he did it and made thru fine! Your DH CAN do it! My DH passes out when they clean his teeth that is how big of a wimp he is! And the ones in your stomach,, you can do them I just know you can! It is so hard to have to rely on someone other than your DH!

The problem I have with this is that I have to do the shot in the upper butt and I dont know if I will be able to do that. Any suggestions again thanks for all the help

What type of shot in the buttock are you doing? I know Lupron, Gonal F, etc are usually given in the tummy or thigh. The IM shots are the ones that usually go in the buttock.

The IM can also go in lower hip. That's a big muscle.. I know you can do it!

the ladies are right it does get easier as you go but I do understand the fear! & the DH thing, mine had a needle break of in his hip as a toddler & well he was so traumatized he blocked all of it out except that the Dr was a dangerous place... needless to say he is ABSOLUTELY NO HELP!

The ladies are right, I say try to do those you can by yourself. Ask your RE for help & explain your are on your own. b/c my RE is out of town I had to get creative, if you still need help with the ones that go in your hip check with your family Dr or local OB. But then you have to do it during office hrs.

I was lucky that the HCG trigger was the only one that was a "hip" shot & I had my stepfather do it until he passed away. This last time I had my office manager do it, she is a nursing student & it was amazing I really didn't feel it! You might find a freidn or co worker, but again I caution you to have someone help you with ALL the shots it is a hassle!

Don't forget all the little tricks like ice down the area, before & after. Pinch the skin, & I heard of a study that the candy BEFORE the shot is a boost of glucose that helps desensitize the pain response somewhat! Even if it isn't true a high dose of sugar can't hurt & besides you deserve it!!! I know it is scary, but it can be done! I still dread it & put it off, but you CAN DO THIS!!! You will really amaze yourself, the ends will justify the means here!

I work for a hospital so getting my shots are not problem for me. I suggest calling your primary care's office and see if they offer nurse visits to do the inj. you would just have to bring your stuff there. Or maybe a friend or neighbor could help if it is too much for a family member. gl.
