It's hard to know "why now". It's been 12 years since I started trying to conceive, and for the longest time, I took a very matter of fact approach to it - if Mother Nature doesn't grant it, then it's not meant to be. It wasn't until this last year that I actually took the "childlessness" off the shelf, so to speak, and actually started to deal with the emotion of it. So yeah, I've been dealing with it for a long time, too, but the hardest part of it for me has been the last year.
Are you able to talk to your husband about it? I know it can be a hard thing to do. I've cried myself to sleep after we've been intimate, too, and it has taken a lot of courage for me to talk to him about it. But I know that he appreciates it when I do, and it helps him to know how to be that soft place to fall for me.
Perhaps, can you speak to a counselor about it? I decided to get some help this past year to deal with my infertility, and I saw a counselor. She was able to help me refocus my thoughts, and gave me tools for being able to deal with situations as they arise. Perhaps a counselor could help you?
I understand what you're going through. It's terribly difficult! Hugs!
Also, men and women when passing treatment do suffer the consequences of it. When it becomes imperative to have intercourse AT SPECIFIC TIMES, making love becomes baby making!! What was once an intimate moment becomes very clinical!! Going into a sterile room with a cup, under the pressure of performance, can harm even the strongest ego.
These are tough moments all we have to survive. But we hopefully keep on moving.
Take care X
