I am not sure of the difference. I know on the IVF handout, it said some people may have to do progesterone by injections and others by suppository. I am doing mine by suppository. Perhaps the injections might be a bit more effective?

I've done progesterone in oil four times. This time when I talked to the nurse she said suppositories were an option after confirmed pregnancy. I'm sorry I don't know the difference, but the shots aren't too bad. I had my hcg today and had less pain than a lupron shot, of course, I've got lots of padding.

The oil has a very small benefit over the suppositories, not a great one, but to me it was still a benefit. They say it gets absorbed quicker into your system.

My RE recommended the oil. The first time it was in olive oil. This time it is in sesame oil. But, the day I did ER, there was a woman who wanted me to be a guinea pig and try a newer suppository or something. She tried talking to me AFTER the ER so I was drugged, my BF and I read the information and agreed that b/c there was the possibility of burning and/or discomfort (and I have enough of that with the endo) that I would stick with the shots.
My RE said after I get pregnant I will switch to the suppositories though, and in a way it is good, but I guess I will have to do them during the day and they could run out of me some. I am guessing like yeast meds. Not sure though.

Are they giving you a choice?

What about Prometrium pills? This is what my doctor has me take. Isn't it just progesterone in pill form? It seems like most women do the suppositories.

My Dr uses suppositories. He gave shots to one group and vaginal suppositories to other. He said they were equally effecitive so he didnt want to cuase the "pain" of more shots!

I use both. In the morning I do the shot and before bed I use a soppository.
