Pregnancy Test Negative

This is my first time joining a support group, but it's hard to be hopeful and positive.  I'm 31.  My husband and I tried for 2 years before getting tested and diagnosed with unexplained infertility.  I find that so frustrating- not knowing what's "wrong" and why this isn't working.  Because it should be working, right?!  Based on all the tests and follicles and uterine lining and sperm counts.  


I'm in my 3rd IUI cycle now.  This one my Dr. Added shots of Gonal and I had 4 huge follicles, lots of mobile sperm, and everything looked great.  I'm supposed to take a pregnancy test on Monday, but took one today (the early detection one).  It was negative.


I'm just so sad and so dejected.  Am I not supposed to have a kid?  Is this my fault?  What's wrong with me, with us?  


I want to spare my husband from this disappointment because we both are always afraid to get excited, but we do, and then we are disappointed.  But I also feel like he is the only one that understands.  My girlfriends are supportive, but have kids and just keep saying it will happen this time.  I have so much to be thankful for, but the sadness I feel is persistent and pervasive.

I also have "unexplained" IF combined with PCOS which is supposedly treated and everything should be working fine, but i just took a test 2 hours ago and it was negative as well. I totally get the mixed emotions - we have so much good in our lives and i am so thankful for that, but at the same time, this is still a challenge, and i feel like it deserves to be seen as one. I wonder the same things as you.. did i do something, should we just stop trying bc are we just not supposed to be parents? - i usually blame myself for something i did maybe in a previous life or something for not being able to have a kid. I wish i had some magic words for you, but i'm in exactly the same boat as you. (Sorry for making this post about me, i just want you to know that you are not alone in how you feel.)

It does make me feel better to know that it isn't just me, that other people are having similar issues. Thanks for your comment. Hopefully we will both have better results the next time we take a pregnancy test. :)

Your post basically described exactly how I feel. Your not alone in this! The months and months and months of disappointment and trying not to get your hopes up is exhausting bc you do get your hopes up and are crushed when a positive NEVER comes up. I have my names picked out, the theme of my baby shower, anything else I can do to distract myself to get to the next cycle and chance at getting pregnant. I feel like my husband is the only one who understands but we he gets really frustrated he says we don't need kids to be happy which makes me even more depressed bc I feel like I really want kids to be happy. Sorry I also made this about me but it was just to show you that your are definatley NOT ALONE!!!

I have unexplained fertility too. I had a laparoscopy earlier this year and was almost hoping that they would find a problem so at least we knew what was causing the infertility and how to treat it, but there were no issues. I just feel like a failure as a woman and am constantly wondering 'why' and 'what can I do'. I just joined this forum today because I can't sleep at the moment I am so depressed. I don't have any answers as to how to ease the pain, but reading these posts has been refreshing, reminding me I am not alone. I am very grateful there are women out there willing to talk about such a sensitive issue and help and support one another.
