Post wash sperm counts

On my last IUI (my 7th), something unusual happened. The per milliliter post wash sperm numbers went up! We started with something like 35 million per ml with 3 milliliters. Then the final number was 45 million per ml but it was only .5 milliliters. This was my 7th IUI and this NEVER happened before. It always went down post wash. My RE explained that since it's fewer milliliters this can happen. The explanation made sense but It still freaked me out because it had never happened before. That IUI did not work but I'm preparing for the next one and thinking about this issue. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

In my case went down significally, but everyone is different, and everytime is different. the first day was 1.80 ml and 34 million post wash, second day .90ml and 5.2 million post wash.
I did only 1 IUI and the whole thing cost 1200 (blood samples, shots). When is the right time to stop IUI and consider IVF? I did not want to try anymore IUI and ending up spending 10.000 before switching to IVF. what do u think?

On my first IUI We started with 35-40 mill and ended up with 55 million post wash, so I guess it is normal for that to happen. On the second round we had a much smaller number (17 million)and I got pregnant.. so you never know. Good luck and I hope you get your miricle.

That happened to my husband a lot... he just has more "semen" I guess... so once it's washed the amount per whatever gets higher. I think that's why....

The wash removes the slow and non-swimmers. So the overall volume drops but the motility rates are higher. Quality, not quantity. As to when to try IVF, that is completely up to you and your DH.
