This has been the most challenging journey of my life and I want to help other women who are going through a similar situation as mine. That's why I'm here. We don't have a success story yet, but I know its coming. God has a plan. It's been hard for us to find support and empathy when it comes to infertility. Close friends and family don't truly understand what we're going through unless they've been on an infertility journey themselves. It's isolating to say the least.

My husband and I have been battling infertility for a year and 8 months now. I'm fortunate to say that we're working with an incredible doctor whom we can both relate to and trust. (She went through two rounds of IVF herself and now has a 4-year-old daughter.) But that doesn't make the process any easier. We opted to bypass trying an IUI and went straight into IVF. It was a tough decision because its ridiculously expensive, not to mention the cost of pharmaceuticals. Oh, and of course, insurance doesn't cover anything. What I didn't realize before going through it, was how emotionally and physically taxing it is. All of the appointments, bloodwork, procedures, etc while trying to still live a "normal" life, go to work, and hang out with friends - but having in the back of your mind the whole time that you took four shots that morning, have two more that night and need to tell your boss you need to take a personal day for a Dr's appointment but lie to her when she asks if I'm sick or if there's something wrong! And if that wasn't enough, your friend just tells you she's pregnant and you have to pretend to be "so excited" for her just like you've been for the countless other people who've gotten surprise pregnancies during your battle.

We retrieved 33 eggs, 28 were mature, 22 were fertilized, 11 frozen at stage 3 and 5 frozen at stage 5. We felt very blessed and thankful. However, due to the amount of eggs retrieved we couldn't to a fresh transfer and had to wait two more months. The waiting in infertility can be one of the hardest parts. I feel like all we do is wait! We finally were able to do our first frozen transfer in November. They transferred a stage 5 embryo, but unfortunately, we found out two weeks later that it didn't implant. We're now in the waiting game again until we can start the Lupron shots and estrogen patches to prepare for our next frozen transfer. We're going to transfer two stage 5 embryos this time. We're praying that they both implant successfully and grow into healthy & happy babies. Please pray with us!

As much as I'm here to share my story and gain support, I also want to support you and your journey! This is a hard road for all of us.

I’ve always said that for me the hardest part of my IF/IVF journey was trying to live a “normal” adult life and act like everything was ok- to sit through ridiculous work meetings and make small talk with co- workers when I felt like I could have a mental breakdown at any moment. Finding the ladies on this blog was a lifesaver for me, so I am sorry that you are also here, but I am glad that you reached out to find support. My family and friends were very supportive but they just did not understand the full extent of what I was experiencing.

I am sorry to hear about your failed transfer and I know that it is hard, but try your best to stay as positive as you can. I started with 8 five day blastocysts and didn’t find success until my 4th transfer with my final 2 embryos. And it was twins! You have great numbers and every reason to remain positive. Wishing you lots of patience, peace and strength as you continue on in this journey:)

God definitely had a plan for us all. My IVF journey has been a long road, luckily I have a incredible support system. My husband and I have been trying for 2 years 7 months and had one failed IUI. I started fertility medications on Oct 31, was soo sick but I knew it was for a good cause. We had retrieval on Nov 8 and 14 eggs were retrieved. 1 did not fertilize.. we had a fresh transfer on November 13th, So then we had 12 eggs, 4 fertilized but showed signs of degeneration, the other 8 are now fertilized and frozen. We found out on Nov 23 that I was pregnanct with HCG labs. I have been bleeding for 3 weeks, sick off and on, and I worry constantly. I am still on aspirin, estradiol and crinone suppositorys. We had our first ultrasound on Friday since I was very concerned with the bleeding and everything looked good. I was 5 weeks 2 days so there was no heartbeat since that starts around 6 weeks. So I will have another ultrasound this Thursday and I pray everything is still doing great. It was a emotional roller coaster, I have cried more in the past 2 months preparing and having a increase in hormones but you will get through it. I wish you all the luck, I will pray for you to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. God has a plan, although we may not understand He knows better then we. Good luck!!

When my first cycle failed, I was heartbroken. It really felt like I’d suffered a bereavement... I’d lost the child I had positively pictured in my mind through each stage of the process. It can be so difficult to know whether to carry on with treatment or to call it a day. Every woman and couple is different. So whilst some people want to keep trying, others prefer to move on from treatment at an earlier stage. Ask your doctor for an honest opinion on whether treatment may work for you. If there’s a very small chance of it working, this may be a factor in you deciding to stop. You should also consider the emotional burden treatment puts on you and your partner and if you do decide to keep going, make sure you’re getting plenty of support. Many clinics have a counselor who you can talk to, either for free or for a fee. They tend to be specialists who have experience of working with people going through fertility treatment and may be a good place to start. You could also ask your clinic if they know of any patient groups where you can meet other people going through similar issues. I know this journey is not easy at all, but I decided to keep going. I want to be a mom more than anything else! I hope donor eggs will work for me.
