The good news by the end of day 6, we had 9 fertilized eggs. They weren't pretty embryos, the lab thought they were stressed out on day 3 and froze the 5 best. Another 4 looked good on day 5, and those were frozen too. About 2 months later we implanted two and are currently 17 weeks away from a singleton live birth :-)
FET was really straightforward, the monitoring was minimal. I had some issues with spotting weeks 6-8 and 16-18, but it sounds like a lot of IVF pregnancies have spotting. Good Luck!
Thanks for an encouraging story though!
I agree with Pincushion, drink lots and lots of liquids with electrolytes. For me, a few days after I ovulated I was very uncomfortable from my ovaries being so big- it was hard to pee (tmi?). That feeling lasted about 2-3 weeks. At first, I didn't know it was OHSS. The big thing is to not do any really active (running, crosstraining, yoga, even cleaning!) until your ovaries are normal sized. I still got my period, early actually, and then my RE confirmed with a u/s that my ovaries were huge. I think my next cycle took longer to happen. I'm not sure if that was from the OHSS or the six cysts from all the eggs I released.
They might be able to drain your ovaries of the fluids they fill up with after they take out the eggs, so hopefully you don't overstimulate?? And you might not have to wait "months", but maybe one extra month? Sorry, it totally stinks, but it totally worked out for orangejuice, and fingers crossed for you. Good luck tomorrow.
I know you are upset you wont do a fresh transfer but you really need to take care of yourself right now! Plus there are not and more clinics requiring a FET and no fresh transfers with IVF because they have higher success rates. Its because the body is under less stress with a FET. So keep your chin up.
I'm sorry you have to test the limits of your patience once again with IF. But I think in the end, it's probably for the best that you wait. I had OHSS after my last ER and we went ahead with the FET. I don't think my uterus was ready.
I was SO UNCOMFORTABLE for about a week (ab area took much longer to get more back to normal). My doc recommended 100 oz of drinks with electrolytes daily. A nurse suggested chicken soup or higher-sodium foods (sounds counter-intuitive, I know) the first few days as it helps draw the fluid into other parts of the body. Rest, keep your legs elevated, and good luck. I think you'll be happy that your embryos are going to be transferred when your uterus is good and ready for them. :)
I have heard that women tend to have more success with FETs because their hormones are more normalized rather than when they have been stimming. Hopefully the wait will be totally worth it, and I hope you recover quickly. I hear OHSS is a bitch :(
Hope you feel better so you can get your transfer!!
