Not sure how to feel

Hello, I'm new to the group. I thought maybe reaching out to others, who are in my situation may help. My husband and I have been trying for three years to get pregnant, and just recently had a failed IVF cycle. We are going for round two now. The thing that shocks me the most is the lack of support I have from certain friends. One friend who doesn't have kids yet but is planning, is continuously sending me natural ways to get pregnant, or sending me pregnancy announcements from people I don't even know. Or my mother in law feels like questioning our doctor (who we love). She also keeps sending me links of natural ways to get pregnant. I feel like maybe I'm the stupid or sensitive one. I normally ignore the messages, but I'm feeling like I have to say something. Anybody have any advice?

I feel your pain. All those fertile myrtles think they have it all figured out. "Just relax. It will happen when the time is right". "Try accupuncture." "Don't schedule sex. Just be spontaneous." "My friend used Royal Jelly and it worked the very first month". These are just a few of the brilliant ;P words of wisdom I have received with regards to my fertility or lack thereof. Strange...I have tried all their tricks and none have seemed to work. I have recently started telling them that I have tried every "trick" in the book and now I am turning to modern science to help me out. All I need from you now is unconditional love and support. Thanks. :)

Hi. I can totally understand where you are coming from. What I would say is that p people sometimes think they are helping. I understand the hurt that you're going through when you hear these things. You are not being sensitive. What I would say is to just be honest with them and let them know that these things are difficult for you to hear. If they are close friends or family share with them your feelings so that they can better understand what you are going through. My husband and I tried for 7 years to get pregnant finally we had a baby boy but unfortunately he only lived 18 days. Actually today is his birthday feeling a bit I don't know. We have been trying again for 4 years to conceive with nothing yet. But I am staying encouraged as should you. I'm holding on to my faith believing in God. Knowing that all things are working for my good. I will pray for you

I am so sorry. In my experience, even the people who have gone through infertility issues sometimes bombed the conversation w/ me. That's why I joined this group.

I'm right there with ya! So few people seem to understand infertility or how to talk about it, which is probably why I haven't spoken to too many people about it in depth & why I joined this group. Even my hubby was totally against it a few years ago when a friend was going thru it (before we were ttc) and he swore we'd never do fertility treatment. And now, almost 3 years later, we're about to do a 2nd round of IVF and he'd been the one pushing for it throughout this whole process. You really can't understand what it's like until you're going thru it! I try to remind myself that my friend's and family's ignorant comments aren't intentional. And like others mentioned, try to be honest & tell them how you feel. I think it's okay, maybe even cathartic, to speak up if it's upsetting you!
