Dealing with major setbacks and how to cope. Looking for help.
I know this is probably not the right forum but there doesn't seem to be a right one out there and I thought perhaps some of you on here could understand and offer advise even if my situations a bit different.
I have had the contraceptive implant for just under a year which the doctor was supposed to remove yesterday having booked the appointment months ago so my OH and I could start trying for a baby we have been so desperate to start trying for. Anyway the doctor butchered my arm trying to get it out but couldn't as the nurse who did it fucked it up and put it too deep and I now have to wait for a referral that could take a couple of months to get a surgeon with a scanner to take it out. We can't even try for a baby untill this is out and had our hearts set on starting trying yesterday at the start of July. After phoning around excessively a sexual health clinic agreed to try to remove it without a scanner in three weeks time but said there is a good chance they won't be able to. This is so upsetting and my OH and I feel so hopeless. This was supposed to be the summer we started trying for a baby together and it feels ruined. We could have been pregnant this month or next but now that can't happen and we feel devasted by this. I cryied a lot yesterday and feel like bursting into tears now but I can't because I have to keep my son happy and amused, he's 1 and a half. I so want a little sister or brother for him.
How are we supposed to cope with the reality that we can't even try for a baby for months, that I now have no control over my body and the overwelmming dissapointment and heartache. We were so exited in the months leading up to yesterday, hell my OH came home from his work at lunchtime to start trying but instead I had to tell him what happened. So frustrated and upset at the situation does anyone have any advice on how to cope just now or on what helps people as couples deal with problems conceiving and fertility?

As a woman that has been through the ringer to become pregnant- I can somewhat relate to your disappointment in the sense of having to wait when you are ready to get going. I think we all can say we have dreaded waiting another month, or two, or three and many of us having been or will be waiting for years, sadly. I'm not at all looking for pity from my past but to keep things in perspective- I started TTC in 2008, IUIs, multiple IVFs, chemical pregnancies, miscarriages, not to mention the over 800 injections I have had to have, surgeries, etc., we certainly have had different paths to motherhood. Like you- I am a mother- unlike many of the women on this site, and these women would be so very grateful to have what you and I have. My heart will forever remember the feelings and emotions of my journey- I get that you're down and sad, no shame in those feelings at all. When looking at your situation- you have been proactive in trying to have your procedure done as soon as possible. If you have exhausted all other options, you've got to come to grips with your situation. You very much allowed to have those sad days and feelings but keep in mind, you have a step up on nearly everyone on this site. Waiting sucks in general but you will get there. Chin up- enjoy that little one that you've got- and a few years from now it won't make a bit of difference- it just feels crappy right now. Hugs to you and best of luck...
