Hello I am 30 years old and have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I am new to any support group and finally feel ready to share my story and hopefully receive some other support. It is extremely difficult to talk to any of my friends and family who have not been through it. I am sure many of you feel the same. At my age most of my friends are getting married and starting their families. Many of them seem to start their families effortlessly and sometimes even “accidental” which is the absolute worst thing you can hear when you’re trying so desperately to conceive a child of your own. I now find myself resentful of all family, friends, and even complete strangers that are pregnant or have a newborn. I guess that is what has brought me here. Anyway my story began a year after I got married. I decided that after a year of trying it was time to go see a specialist. Once we went through all of the testing and finally received the results the doctor could find nothing wrong with either of us. Sometimes I think it’s more frustrating to not know what is wrong or why it won’t happen. Right away we had decided to go with IVF because of the better success rate and the fact that my husband is afraid of having multiples. During the retrieval they were able to collect 18 eggs, 10 of which fertilized, and 9 made it to day 5 blastocysts to be frozen. We have just finished our third transfer and 2 FET with no success. I know it’s the doctor and nurses job to be positive each time but sometimes I feel as though they give you such a false hope. Each time I have heard the following: “you are the perfect candidate, embryos are of good quality, and your lining is great”. After each let down I feel so angry that they have told me all of these things and still I keep getting negatives! Anyone have a similar experience? I guess I am wondering how to juggling it all? How to keep my emotions in check, maintain a healthy relationship with my husband, maintain home and professional life all while feeling absolutely devastated each time I receive a phone call about another negative test? I know I feel like I have been rambling but I guess I just have so much built up! Thanks for listening.

I have read so many people's stories about trying for years to concieve whether naturally or with fertility treatments. I can't even imagine how challenging it must be to go through this for years. It is so emotionally and physically draining. I wish you the best of luck with your decision for possibly trying IVF. I would love to continue to talk to you in the future. This has put such a strain on my marriage...the cost and trying to figure out where to get the money. IVF is $12,000, and we are probably going to do PGS testing, which is another $7,000. It's criminal that insurance companies can't share the burden of this cost.
So, I feel your pain on rounds of tests and hormones. I will be starting my only round of IVF after Thanksgiving...just scared. Prayers to you and yours!
