Join the community and share your experiences, advice, and story with people going through similar challenges starting a family.
I haven't done IVF, but your fears all seem very natural. Sending positive thoughts you way for getting some good eggs that create nice, healthy embryos! It has worked for a lot of women who otherwise didn't seem to have any hope, so why not for you, too?!
Hopefully this group can help you find the comfort and support you will need. Sending all the best!
The financial strain is really quite a burden. I've done 4 unsuccessful rounds of IUI with IV meds, 3 failed attempts at responding to IV meds, and a polyp removal. I don't think that most people really grasp the emotional, mental, relational, and financial strain that infertility puts on us. People try to say things that they think will help, most of which is unrealistic, but their intentions are good. I've really struggled with the whole "trying to relax" part, as I feel so desperate, given that my eggs are barely existent. My husband is very supportive. I've also started individual counseling and have been taking the lowest dose of Celexa to help with how I'm feeling.
You are the one, along with your husband, that have to decide what makes the most sense for you, physically, emotionally, and financially. I really wish you so much luck as you near the start of your IVF meds. While it's so heartbreaking to have to think about the possibility of having a child by other untraditional methods, thankfully, it is possible. Personally, if I am not ever successful with IVF, I've been told that I am a good candidate for using an egg donor. If that ends up being the case with me, I know that it will definitely be quite a blow to my heart. But, the alternative of not ever having a child with my husband is so sad.
I just joined this group, as well. I'm hoping that you and I both find some support here. Good luck with your upcoming cycle!
Not sure where you're located but there are a few clinics in the US that offer a guarantee of a live birth or your money back. It's still a financial strain though. Praying that you respond well to the meds and that this will be it for you.
Welcome to the club! I wish you the best and hope you have an easy cycle! Its a rough journey and you won't know how you'll feel from one day to the next. I am excited and happy you're trying IVF though. With IVF, although invasive, they can really get in there and cause some good stuff to happen. I still wish the technology was more accurate and guaranteed.
I have the same fears as you. But my biggest fear would have been regret 10 years from now and not doing IVF. I always would've asked, "what if?" I have not been successful yet, but if I can't get pregnant with my own eggs, I will seek a donor. Not sure how I feel about that yet, but at least there's a plan B. And having a plan A, B, C keeps me sane because I am a planner! I wish you the best of luck, Let me know if you ever need to vent! xoxo
On my first ultrasound Monday, when I saw the follicles, I cried and cried and cried....
Not sure if it;s normal during an IVF cycle, but I am EXHAUSTED all the time. Last night was the first night I was able to sleep, prior, I was up all night tossing and turning and overthinking everything, so hopefully I can continue to sleep through the night.
Will keep you updated, keep sharing your experiences with me, and thanks for the helpful comments so far!
