My husband is older and was previously married. They had a child 30 years ago and he had a vasectomy after as they wanted just 1 child. He and I have been together almost 9 years and I am a healthy, fertile (as far as we know) 40 1/2 year old. An endocrinologist told us a vasectomy reversal likely wouldn't work due to so much time since procedure and how they did that procedure back then. we started IVF almost 2 years ago. The clinic was disorganized and there was lots of time between appointments. Didn't even get my eggs retrieved after 10 months working with them. We dropped them and changed to a different clinic that seemed more organized and has better success rates per cdc info. I've been working with new clinic now for almost 10 months. Had eggs retrieved in December and got 2 embryos out of it. 1 good, 1 rated fair. I've been taking drugs to prepare for implanting 1 embryo and have flown from my remote Alaskan island home to a hospital for blood work and ultrasounds 7xs since Feb. every 1st round of blood work and ultrasound look good but the 2nd trip has failed every time due to ovulation 2xs and too high estrogen levels 1x. They started me on a new injection to stop ovulation after last failed test trip. I flew to hospital in early May and go back for round 2 next week. If 2nd trip finally works well, I will go to Seattle in early June and get embryo implanted. this has been such a long journey for me. I am angry that I have to go through IVF despite being healthy bc my husband had a vasectomy 30 years ago. He is not very supportive and will be away from home in June, July and August for 5 days to up to 2.5 weeks and was gone 2 weeks in May.
our stepdaughter just announced her pregnancy about 12 weeks ago.
mom tired of going through this process and All the expense and tired of the lack of support and seeing women All around me pregnant or with baby #1, 2 or 3. I'm tired of spending money (close to $25k of my own money at this point as we split costs) on this expensive process and all my time and energy and making all these sacrifices bc of a choice my husband made when I was not in his life 30 years ago.
I just want to be a mom. I feel like this implant will never happen and if it does happen I'm terrified it won't work after going through this for 2 years. Because I'm 40 1/2, I have probably wasted my last fertile years on this process.
is anyone here in a similar boat? Anyone have a vasectomy husband leading them to this? Anyone been doing this almost 2 years without a single implant having happened yet? help
