My first IUI

I am finally getting my first IUI,(early next week)but I am not on any meds and I am pretty much getting bw done for day 9 and day 13 testing with OPK and the calling dr when I get 2 lines.I am hopeful but I do realize that most people take some kind of fertility meds.My plan is that if it doesn't work this month I will ask him to put me on meds and we will try again. Do you think I should get 2 IUIs done this month or wait until next month(I am praying it works this month)? I am nervous,excited,anxious,and hopeful but I do realize I might need meds.Please keep me in your prayers,and like alway you dear ladies are in mine :) I love the support I get here.You ladies are my saviors. Hey, I asked my nurse why I was on meds since my husband and I were tested and everything looked fine and she said it was my age (I'm 37) so maybe you do not need meds for everything to work fine since you are 30. I wouldn't worry about it just yet. You never know...this one might be THE ONE!!! I'm thinking about you! We will soon be in our 2WW...I am not looking forward to that! Take care!

Depends a lot on how this cycle looks on day 13. If you have one great looking follicle then your Dr. may not want to change anything. Something as simple as Femara or clomid can have a really good response. If I were you and this first IUI ends in BFN, go to the meds. They are usually only $20 so it's worth it!

I was on clomid and produced 2 large follies beacuse of it, (my IUI was on 7/2). As far as getting 2 done, that's up to you. When we had our IUI our nurse told us to have sex that night as well to "flood the area."
As far as advice..don't stress, it's so quick and painless. I highly recommend taking it easy the day you get it. I took off work (any excuse to take off work :) )I was very crampy and bloated for a few days after, which apparently is normal.

Thank you ladies for your comments.They keep me going and let me know I am not alone in this crazy journey.Wishing for BFPs for everyone. :) I will keep you posted when I actually get it done. Hurry LH surge :)

My doctor moved to meds immediately, but mostly because I was a "late" ovulator. He wanted to move up ovulation in my cycle in hopes of giving more time for implantation.

I didn't even notice the IUI itself this time (the first time I had the tiniest cramp). The procedure is no worse than any other trip to the gyno.

As with all the IF procedures I have been through, I find they fly by if I visualize myself with a baby-- the end result really is what makes us all put our bodies through this process.

My 2nd IUI is Monday morning. We went straight to the meds our first round but we are dealing with male factor and the doc thought we would have a better chance with more eggies!..hehe! We only done 1 IUI our first cycle and will only do ine this cycle also. We said that if we do a couple and it doesnt work, then we may do 2 per cycle. Our insurance only covers 8 in a lifetime.
