I am reading it now and I really like it, but I am confused about one thing...she says they had 3 mature follicles and one more that might be possible...How did she end up with 7 embryos implanted? I am pretty sure that they are all fraternal.

I think she went through IUI and so there is no real control of how many embryos they end up with. They are all fraternal.

I think she had IUI and had seven embryos that implanted, but only 6 survived the whole pregnancy?
I also think that she was told by her doctors to reduce the number, but she refused and went ahead and had all six.
What I can't figure out is how the husband makes so much money as to afford to fly the whole family on all the the trips that they are always taking?

I think the doctor only thought they had 3-4 mature follicles, but the other smaller follies must have also contained mature eggs. Like for me, on Gonal F- I always produce tons of follies only 2-3 are usually big enough to consider mature. My RE said sometimes things like that surprise them and they end up getting mature eggs from the littler ones too... so I think that's what happened with Kate.

As far as the trips- many places offer them free trips b/cuz they are really advetising for them on the show.

I guess on the show you see the happy side of what they have and think about all the freebies etc. In the book, you learn how things were for them at first.

Jon and Kate were both very against selective reduction- I'm not sure that I could do that either. When your RE tells you, that you have 3-4 mature follies and there's a chance for twins again, prob nothing more- you go for it, right? I do!!

Anyways, I always wondered how/why they ended up with so many at once and the book explained it more.

I am an addict of the show- it cracks me up... the book was the other side of the story. :o)

I received Multiple Blessings from my Mom for Christmas. I read it in one day and was truly inspired by their tenacity in overcoming obstacles. They are truly a wonderful family and proof that if we have faith, our miracle will happen too. I posted a recommendation for the book. I highly encourage everyone to go get a copy for themselves.

BTW, Jon and Kate are moving into their NEW home on this Mondays episode. I can't wait to see it!

From what I know, they did IUI with injections. Even though the doctor may of seen 3-4 follicles on the u/s, it did not mean there were not more waiting in the wings.

When we did our first IVF they thought I had 9 eggs the day I did my trigger shot. 36 hours later during ER they got 19 eggs. So that shows how quickly they can grow.

Lionness...that's crazy about your first retrieval...do follicles hide from the ultrasound?

WE love Jon and Katte plus eight! they were just meant to be parents! I am so getting that book ..like tomorrow.

FYI Yhe first time we did stimulation I had like 9 follies ready to go! The DR. said we should sleep in separate beds just to be sure we did not touch one other! We moved on to IVF shortly after because of the multiple factor!
