I started my cocktail of stimulating drugs for IVF last night. Follistim and Lupron are fine, but the Menopur really stung going in. Do other people have that experience? Does an ice pack help? Thanks! -Kay

Yup this happened to me as well. I was also on Bravelle, but the menopur was by far worse. Icing it helped a ton, and I pinched the skin when injecting.

I had the same reaction! I took the Follistim first and thought it wasn't a big deal until the Menopur...wow it burns! But it definitely helped, my follicles are getting bigger! good luck

Yup...squeeze the injection site ahead of time, and rub it afterwards, then put an ice pack on it. I feel your pain...but it's for a good cause! :)

Glad it's not just me, although I don't wish the pain on you either. What do you mean by pinching or squeezing the injection site. Is this different than squeezing my belly fat to inject into?

Oh yeah! That one for me I think hurt worse then the progesterone going in. Hang in there. My doc told me I could ice it, so you might try that. Good luck.

I will be using Menopur for the first time this cycle. Can you ladies tell me a little about it? Does it help the follicles to grow even more? I thought I knew just about everything about IVF! haha

All I know is that the warnings on the box say that it increases the chance of twins. Sounds good to me! I don't know if it increases the number of follicles or increases their size ... or both. Just make sure you ice the area down before you inject! It does make a HUGE difference.
