Do you take progesterone supplement ? That helps with the luteal phase.

You know that kind of makes sence. My luteal phase is 11. I am supposed to talk to the fertility nurse tomorrow. I will bring this up and let you know what she says.

They can do bloodwork to test your hormone levels after you ovulate to see if they are staying at the right levels. I forget exactly which hormone (I think it's progesterone?), but if it drops too soon (like 7dpo or something) it can prevent you from being able to get pregnant. From what I understand, it's an easy fix (you just take hormone supplements to correct the levels) and pretty easy to test for. Find out if they have already tested you, because for me it was a routine test they did.

Also, my luteal phase was only 10 or 11 most of the time and they confirmed that I didn't have a defect because my hormone levels were fine. That being said, I also remain in the "unexplained infertility" category so who knows. I agree with Kim - if you aren't happy with your RE you should switch (and being told after 4 m/c that they are flukes seems strange...they could be I suppose, but why aren't they even trying to figure out if it's something else?!)

Thanks ladies. I have been suspecting a progesterone issue but my RE never checks it. I've asked him about it a few times and he tells me since I'm on Follistim my progesterone does not need to be checked. Uggg...

Our first IUI cycle AF came 11 days past ov. So I asked about prometerium for the next cycle. RE said it couldn't hurt so I did after our second IUI. Still no pregnancy. We took this month off trying to decide what we were going to do and we got pregnant!! However, my progesterone was really low 1.2 so we don't know if it will stick or not, but I am doing supplements again and my levels are increasing. Good Luck!!

First let me tell you that I am so sorry. I know there is little consolation right now, so please know that I know exactly what you are going through and I want you to know that you and your dh are in my prayers. This is such a struggle. Have you had a blood workup where you had around 15 or so blood tests run? Has your RE ordered karotype genetic testing? I'm only asking because these were the tests that my RE ran in between my 2nd-4th losses. The prog test is normally run withing that large group of testing. Try asking your dr or researching why follistim would not require progesterone. I don't have luteal phase issues and my RE has me on prog just because it can't hurt. It will not cause any harm for you or the baby, so she has me start about 3dpo and if I have a bfp continue and if neg I stop taking it. As far as I know it's one of those they're not sure if it helps with rpl, but it can help if luteal phase is an issue. Again, I'm so sorry and hoping and praying that you recover well and get some answers quickly.
