ADOPTION DOES NOT RESOLVE INFERTILITY!!!!

Honestly? I'm not opposed to having this post on this forum. Adoption obviously doesn't solve infertility. But for many of us here, it might be our only chance for children. I, for one, would love all the first-hand info about adoption that anyone could provide here, because I want to be a mom, whether that means giving birth or adopting. And let's face it: lots of infertile couples adopt.

Well, I am currently waiting to start my first IUI cycle, so obviouslt Infertility is no stranger to me. On the other hand, I am an adopted child. I can honestly say that it has been the greatest blessing for me to have been given the chance to have a mom as fantastic as mine. Anyone who would want to ask me questions or hear my story, you are more than welcome to PM me or add me as your friend or just ask here and I'll be glad to answer your questions. Adoption is the greatest act of love and not only does it fulfill a dream to become a parent, it also means hope for those who would most likely die or remain orphan for the rest of their lives.

Please don't badger Sassy. My husband and are at the place where the medical options are not for us. So at this point, we are tearfully and and wisely considering our adoption options. Some people have tried IVF without success. Some people are not at a place where they want to use someone else's egg or sperm.
I cry every week because I just don't understand why this fertility issue is happening to me and my husband. . . I am struggling today with these emotions. Please be sensitive to those of us who are traveling this road; and adoption seems the best option for some who want to be parents. My grandmother and others in my family have many children, and I don't. It is a bittersweet decision. Some children need parents. Some parents need children. Be blessed everyone in your personal decisions and in whatever stage of infertility you are in. Thanks.

I don't know of the posting is what is misplaced...I think the sentiment is misplaced for National INFERTILITY Awareness week. NIAW was founded to raise awareness and bust myths of IF. "Just adopt" is a hurtful and uneducated statement that I think almost anyone who is at all public with the IF struggle hears. I don't think that this post raises awareness that IF is a medical diagnosis and we are a patient community. It's like telling a cancer patient to "just get a really good wig"....that doesn't change that they have cancer, they are upset that they lost their hair and that they have to deal with an illness....getting a wig won't solve their medical issue or their heartache.
So. although there is nothing wrong with adopting--in fact it's an amazing act of selflessness. Adopting does not solve IF. And it's expensive, can take years, and has some hurdles of it's own. It's really not a comment to share for NIAW...sort of insensitive actually. I'm little disappointed TeamDS...thought you would understand that.

I agree with Sassy. While it's not a solution, it's one route to parenthood. I've been through IVF and I plan to adopt in the future. I would love information on the adoption process. I plan to dive in sometime during 2012. I'm not sure I can go through IVF again.

Adoption doesn't "cure" the pain and heartache we ladies/men can experience. HOWEVER, our adopting my son (which willbe final in 6 months) is the most rewarding awesome experience of my life. The love I feel for that boy could NOT be any stronger if I had delivered him myself. I adore that boy, and he has helped to heal my heart in ways nothing else could have. So is my heart forever slightly scarred, yes. But he helped me put the shattered pieces back together to help create an entirely new heart overflowing w/ motherly love.
Guess my point is sometimes you need to see all your options, including adoption. It isn't right for everyone and isn't a "easy fix." But it can be heaven for others.
