I had mine in November. It really wasnt that bad. I was a little sore for about 3-4 days. I didnt take but about 3 pain pills in all. The worse thing was the gas on my belly. It hurt really bad...but the heating pad on my back helped alot. (They blow gas in your stomach so the they see and get around easy.) You will be fine. My advice is get a heating pad...and ask for something to calm your nerves as soon as you get there. (p.s. it was my first surgery)

I had mine back in march and actually concieved the month afterwards however we just miscarried 2 weeks ago.
The surgery itself for me went well but I did have complications post op (not the normal). I had had back surgery years ago and had adhesions post op after that in my abdomen which made me a higher risk candidate for the laparoscopy ( had 2 surgeons turn me away for surgery). The recent laparoscopy was meant to be a simple endometriosis thing but thank goodness my RE had the forethought to have a bowel surgeon in the OR too as most of the surgery ended up being bowel related. I had a few complications related to bowel hypomotility and also major pain which meant I had to go back in the hospital for a week, but now all is good and I have 3 small scars and I do not regret for a single minute having it done. All the pain from the endo has gone away after all these years
The one thing I didn't expect afterwards was bleeding like a period ( it didn't last long but something I wasn't prepared for)

I had mine done in April and it was not bad, I agree with the gas issue, mine was actually in my shoulders. I was told to take tums and it did help. The only thing bad for me was my next cycle was really heavy and I was not expecting that but overall not bad. Just rest for a few days and it will be fine :)

Some advice: wear/bring lose pants to go home in. And make sure you have some comfy clothes for your recovery. I was swollen from the gas for 2 weeks or so, and my normal pants wouldn't fit. Wasn't expecting that ;) Pain was not bad...just sore in the neck/shoulders from the gas for a day. Rent some good movies to watch and have a fave snack on hand. :) good luck!

I had my surgery four weeks ago ... helpful tips:

* wear button down short to the hospital - it hurts to raise your hands over your head
* bring a pad with very large, granny, style, over the belly button underwear -- I found that my low-riders were painful and too close to my incisions (I had 5)
* gas is pretty extreme -- I found that eating basil, raw, was a great natural remedy for gas.
* first day was the best for me because I was still on the anesthesia, but day two was rough -- so don't over do it on day one

I just had lap surgery for the second time on 6/14. I had stage IV enod. This was my 2nd surgery. It is a little nerve wracking, but you'll be ok. They will probably give you something to relax. I got it both times and I didn't remember anything after. The next thing I knew surgery was over. You'll prob be a bit sore. Both times I was prescribed Vicodin, but had no need to take it. My endo pain is worse than the discomfort after surgery. My only suggestion would be to try to lay flat for 1st couple of day. The gas used to inflate your belly will rise and you may experience shoulder pain. Good Luck and best wishes!

I had mine in March and it wasn't too bad. I asked the anesthesiologist lots of questions and he really made me feel better. It was my first surgery also. Just remember to take it really easy when you get home while everything is healing inside. After about 2 weeks I was back to normal. Are you off for summer since you are a teacher? That will be perfect timing!
