I know there are a number of women on here with Kaiser.

USually if you tell your doctor flat out that you were suicidal on clomid, they really would never put you on that medication again. It'd be a big red flag for a lawsuit, and they'd be risking their own license to prescribe it to you, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi there, I have Kaiser in OR. I just found out that Kaiser here doesn't do injectable fertility meds. If it was something I needed I would have to be referred to an out of network specialist $$$. I totally sympathize about the Clomid, it makes me insane. I now only take it on alternating months because I need breaks from it. I did have a consult with an RE who gave me the option of taking Letrozole instead of clomid. He said there's usually less emotional side effects and wreaks less havoc on your lining. I decided to stick with clomid because I respond well to it. But Letrozole is a pill so I'd ask to try that before injectables. Did you ovulate on clomid? I know with injectables you have a greater risk of over stimulation and cancelled cycles. Your doc can't MAKE you take anything. But if you don't want to pay out of pocket you kind of have to follow protocol.

I have Kaiser too! We haven't gone that far in the infertilty process with the doctor but I have a feeling the next step will be Clomid for me =/ I am waiting for my doctor to get back from vacation to see. I am sorry that the Clomid made you all weird...I am expecting the worst when I am on it. Luckily my boss knows what is going on and I might take a few days off work while on it just to be on the safe side. I would talk with your doctor (and if you don't have one that you trust...move on!) and see if they can move you to injectables instead. Best wishes!

If you say you had an "adverse reaction" to a medicine, no physician should ever place you on that med again. Kaiser is different depending on the region. I have it in CO. We tried Letrozole; an oral option to Clomid, and didn't have any response to it. Then tried the injectable Menopur for an IUI cycle. The rates were more reasonalbe than the private clinics. BUT...if you fail on their programs, and need IVF they outsource you and cover it at 80%, which is what we're doing and it's HUGE! Good luck!

I don't know anything about that insurance but I just wanted to suggest Femara to you. It is a pill but has none of the bad side effects that Clomid has. It's actually a cancer drug but a lot of people use it for infertility. Because it's main purpose is for cancer most insurances will cover it. You might want to ask your RE about it. I was put on it because the Clomid thinned my uterine lining.

Thank you guys... I know that I DO NOT want Clomid...but I really just want to be as agressive as possible with everything.... If there is a better chance with injectables that is the way I want to go...how do I tell my doctor that? Due to Parents (mine and my husbands) health, I want to be agressive in hopes that they have a chance to be grandparents... I know that sounds strange, but if this doesnt happen medically, then we need to look at adoption.. Its funny how when you are younger, you just think ohhhhh by 25 Ill have a baby, and there wont be a rush... Now at 30 and with things out of our control, I feel like Im on a time crunch, which is never good for stress and pregnancy...

I have Kaiser and they were really good with me when I said I don't want to start with Clomid and go straight to injections. And if you've had a bad response to it then they wouldn't want to put you on it anyways. Just let them know what it does to you...And that you would just like to go straight to injections and it should be fine. Good Luck!
