Over the last few weeks more stellar "advice" has popped up.  You would think that almost 3 years of struggling I would be used to it. My common-law partner/hubby/boyfriend whichever you prefer, received the following advice this week, "Hey, if this round does not work, then you and your girlfriend should take a holiday somewhere and boink like rabbits... that should work!" Yes....  because we have not thought of having lots of sex to get pregnant... thank you.. wonderful.  I wonder why we are at the specialists then. Another one a few months ago... "I told my girlfriend to relax, and next thing we know she is pregnant.. just tell your girlfriend to relax". While I can appreciate that every one means well, what they fail to realize is that we are being seen at the Fertility Clinic for a REASON. Instead of giving advise, just say  we are praying for you, or thinking of you.  I like to educate myself on things I dont understand so I can best help or reach out to people before putting my foot in my mouth... on this journey I have seen/experienced or heard how so many people make comments like this to friends on this journey.  Infertility is taboo to talk about and it shouldnt be as it is so so common.  My team-lead at work sent me a link on the day of my IUI, and then came running over to me and said "I hope I didnt offend you, I dont know how to talk to someone struggling to have a child like you. I replied, you did not infact I appreciate that you took the time to think of me and send me a link to something beneficial other than saying something insensitive remark like oh Just relax. Thats a one in a million person I find; someone who realizes something might unintentionally hurt someone and quickly make sure it didnt.
