Sorry for asking this, but I am confused. My husband and I will most likely have to do IVF. My question however stupid it is, is about cost (I still dont think that we should have to pay to be good parents, when you have crap parents doing it for free),anywho how much is it per cycle. Meaning lets say that its $12,000 for everything including meds right? If I wanted to freeze some embies, and the first IVF fails, is it $12,000 the next month/cycle, or is it cheaper the next month to put in the frozen embies? Can someone for the LOVE OF GOD explain this to me...LOL Im still mad that at the end of the day, you have to look at your bank account!!! And they say love doesnt cost a thing!!!!! (Im a little bitter today can you tell...lol)

I've never had IVF done yet(that is up next for us). Our clinic's breakdown is about $10,000-$12,000 for the fresh IVF, a Frozen embryo transfer is $1000.00, much cheaper than a fresh cycle. I am totally new to IVF so some of the other girls may have a lot more insight(I'm also in Canada and the pricing may be different). I know, there are so many questions with IVF. We are going to an information session next week, it is apparently 2 hours long. Does your clinic offer an info night? We are required to take it before moving ahead. Good luck to you and your DH!!

Frozen cycles are a lot cheaper than fresh IVF cycles mine was about $5,000 including meds, u/s and labs. The cost all depends on whether you pay for each cycle as you go or if you do a shared risk program where you pay for 3 cycles up front which also includes all the frozen cycles you need and in the end if you don't end up with a viable pregnancy you get all or a portion of your money back. The shared risk program at my clinic was around $19,000 but didn't include meds or labs or anesthesia. There's also a really good book I think it's called In-vitro for couples or something similar and it explains many ways to help with the cost for instance there's a way to write off a lot of the cost on your taxes based on your income, anyway ask your accountant for details. Well, the cost depends on your state and your specific RE. For me, the IVF procedure cost $9,500. This was without meds. I got my meds at a discount for about $1,500 (they can cost more) so that put my total cost at $11,000. That IVF failed so I moved onto a FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) and that cost a lot less. I believe the cost was about $3,000. We took out a loan to cover the costs and our IVF and FET were covered under that. Message me if you have any specific questions.

When we did IVF we had a discounted rate due to being in a clinical trial. With the discount we paid $7,000 for the cycle and $1,500 for the bloodwork and ultrasounds. We were lucky enough for our insurance to cover the meds, minus our copay, but they would have cost about $4,000. If we didn't have the clinical trial just the IVF part would have cost us $12,000. I know at the RE I went to a frozen cycle would cost significantly less but I don't know the price. Good luck and I hope your IVF journey goes well!!
