Hi...

Any tips or things to be known before IVF begins? Prepare to wear larger clothing or just want to eat constantly?

Now that i asked that, i can say that i'm totally on a rollercoaster - much of it denial and excitment and fear and a whole lot of not knowing how to feel. Frankly. INFERTILITY SUCKS!!!!! There is emotions and phyiscal aspects and then you have EVERYONE looking at your stomach or when you start a sentence with "so this isn't public knowlege but..." everyone is always expecting you to say - well you all know what. (Then when you say something like we just got a great deal on a new car" they have to hurry up and find something to say to try and not look stupid. Newsflash - we know what you were thinking/expecting and getting ready to say. 1.2 seconds just isn't enough time to cover that up, so don't bother!!)

And for those of us who have an "excellent or great" support system - do you ever feel like sometimes it's just not enough, or they really just don't get it? I will freely admit that i'm am 100% PMS'ing right now so really, no one who isn't in our (collectivly everyone on this journey) can say anything right.

I want to leave this post on a positive note for all the people who like to be positive. (Did i mention i'm PMS'ing?) My positive note is that i wish you all continued strength and comfort and hugs.

Did you decide to go for it? Do you know when you're starting?? If so, I'm very excited for you and hope IVF is successful for you! I also wanted to chime in to say that I absolutely know that awkward moment when someone asks you, "so, what's new?" expecting an announcement and NEVER having one. So then you just say, "nothing really new," and it gets awkward with everyone trying to figure out where to go from there, haha.

And yes, despite having great support, I think it's impossible not to feel like it's not enough sometimes because no one else around you REALLY gets how you feel. All of the support in the world unfortunately can't make up for our sadness/despair sometimes. You're not alone!

IF is a roller coaster unlike any other! I definitely remember all of the fear, anxiety and excitement that comes with starting IVF. As an outsider right now, all I feel is excitement for you:) This will be one of the hardest, most trying times you will ever go through, but hopefully the payoff will be worth it. Just take it one day at a time and keep pushing forward. One thing that I do remember that I don't think I was adequately prepared for was the amount of time you will have to spend going back and forth to the clinic for monitoring. I was lucky enough to have a lot of flexibility with my job and no one really asked any questions, but you may need to decide how much you want people to know and how to come and go from work. And the shots get easier. The first night I cried bc I couldn't believe that this was my life, but once the 1st shot was given, there was no going back. You can do this and you will get through it! IVF is a journey for strong people, which people who suffer from infertility are so very strong. My husband and I suffered for going on 5 years and I'm so happy to say we did IVF on the 12th and today I have 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant. It works, you just have to listen to your doctor and RE and do exactly as they say because they know what they are doing. My husband and I both were the problem so I had 49 eggs they retrieved from me. I ended up in the hospital for three days for fluid in my lungs and a possible blood clot in my lungs all because of the egg retrieval due to I had OHSS. They told me I was going to have to be on blood thinner for at least 6 month to a year which meant no embryo transfer for me. Well God heard my pain and cry and I left that hospital with no blood clot after all and had my transfer 3 weeks later. It's been such a rollercoaster of emotions and I'm not going to lie, it's hard but I wouldn't change one bit of it because now I have this precious miracle in my belly and I promise you will too, don't ever give up. I know it's hard, but just have faith. Prayers for you and future baby

I don't have any experience with IVF, but will be going down that road if the second and third IUI doesn't work. Infertility is such a roller coaster and never knew how tough it would be. Glad I found this thread and others on this group.

My first two failed cycles were hard I went to Spanish hospital first time went for transfer and all eggs had vapourated gone before the transfer I was devastated to say the least the second time I had two transferred into me but died inside me still was hard like people say on here be kind to yourself and take each day as it comes hope that this helps
